Cleaning Services - Move-out

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 1:21 PM
I'm moving out of my apartment and need someone to clean it for move-out. This means all the floors, the bathroom, kitchen, sweep cupboards, drawers, and clean the fridge and stove. The move-out basics. Prefer someone with their own supplies.

The apt is a tiny 1bdr/1bath 700 sq ft. I'm looking to pay around $75 it would be this Saturday 2PM or later. Interested? Reply here.
Dear Austinites,

Beg, borrow, or buy a copy of today's Austin-American Statesman (or click here). Flip open to the Life & Arts section (D-1). See that big, full-color photo taking up half the top? That's my brother! (Well, the one on the right).

He's up for the "Someone to Watch" award in this year's Independent Spirit Awards, for his movie, Dear Pillow, which has been garnering acclaim at film festivals both nationally and abroad, and which was shot here in Austin. The Independent Spirit Awards will air the day before the Oscars, this Saturday, on Bravo. But the Austin Film Society is also hosting a live broadcast this Saturday afternoon at:

The Fox & the Hound
4th & Guadalupe
4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

It's free and open to the public, so c'mon by and help me root for a fellow Austinite!

Best Buy gift card.....Austinites only

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 2:01 PM
I have a $658 store credit at Best Buy I'd like to use up. Given the dollar amount, I don't think it's worth the risk for either party to sell it, so here is what I offer:
I'll go with you to Best Buy, and apply my store credit to your purchase. You can then give me cash for 15% less.
I'd like to use the whole thing at once, but I'm willing to do transactions for any amount over $200.

Its just an idea, if you have a better one, please speak up. Seemed safer for the buyer than just outright selling the card.

VHS tapes

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 6:21 PM

hello there Austin...

Sorry if this has been asked before, but it's something we were just thinking of again...

My husband and I were curious if any one knows of a place that will buy back VHS tapes.  We have tried Hasting's and no luck.  We have at least over 100 that his brother left behind when he moved, and they are of no use to us, since we only have DVD players.  Any advice or anything would be greatly appreciated.  If there is no such luck, we might be interested in just selling them as is to someone.  Please let us know!

Thanks!!!

Lost Dog

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 7:58 PM

My friend's dog escaped from their back yard today.

He is a White Alaskan Eskimo dog, about 30lbs. His name is Homer.
He escaped from the William Cannon/Brodie area, near Covington middle school. He was not wearing tags and does not have a microchip.

If anyone sees this dog please comment.

Thanks.

Last No Shame Theater of February

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 10:10 PM
Hey people,

Our last transmission of February, and let me just tell you that our experiment of taking No Shame weekly has borne wonderful fruit. Last week was the single best show I think we’ve ever had, and who’s to say this Friday won’t be even better? And this Friday we’ll get a preview taste of Salvage Vanguard’s new opera Genghis Khan, so don’t miss it.

This show is going to rock your world.

WHEN and WHERE:
Friday, February 25
11 p.m. (script submission begins at 10:30)
The Hideout, 617 Congress
$2

www.noshame.org

No Shame Theatre is an ongoing production of Gnap! Theater Projects.

Presented with the support of Salvage Vanguard Theater.

No Shame Theatre is an open performance forum where anything can happen, and usually does. This anything includes theater, dance, comedy, or music (or hybrids thereof). Pieces must be original, keep your technical demands small and your piece under five minutes in length. That's all it takes to participate. And remember, No Shame isn't just for participants. We
want audience, too, so tell your friends!

vegan restuarant on 24th and exposition

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 10:33 PM
I heard from my little birdie that a new vegan eatery popped up in town. Not exactly sure about the name. Something like New Age or close to that. On/around 24th and Exposition. Has anyone heard anything?

Manatee?

  • Feb. 22nd, 2005 at 11:02 PM
Does anyone know what happened to Manatee? I really liked them, but really haven't been keeping up. Until now, I found out that their website is down. They aren't even playing at SXSW this year either.
