any romantic, nice, good restaurant that isn't too expensive and won't be filled up with reservations on v-day? or maybe suggest another time to go eat? (has to be after 2 though - I have class til then)

also, to be easily accessible by bus from hyde park would be a great plus.
Hey everyone - just a quick heads-up to let you all know that SpiderHouse (480-9562) has started having free stuff to do almost every night, weather permitting. Tuesdays, they have Buffy the Vampire Slayer episodes, and on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday & Sunday, free movies (double features, starting at 9pm) on the back patio. On Friday Nights they're going to have dancing back there, though I think it will be too cold and rainy to go on tonight. So, anyway, if you're looking for somewhere cool to hang out and do free stuff, drop by!

Anyone know where I could find a necklace with a lightning bolt hanging from it? Gold or Silver, it doesn't matter. I looked at Hot Topic a while ago and they didn't have anything of the sort. Thanks!

random food craving alert

  • Feb. 11th, 2005 at 12:45 PM
All right, I'm craving Chinese dumplings like these. I used to work at a grocery store that had frozen shrimp dumplings that you just steam to reheat and they were wonderful. I had potstickers last night and it just didn't quite cut it. Does anyone know where I can find something like this for dinner, preferably to take home? I'm just not yet familiar with local asian markets, anyone got a good recommendation? Or maybe there's a restaurant I should try? I thought Whole Foods might have something, but I called a few days ago and didn't have any luck.

to make things worse a group of people ordered lunch from Noodle-ism and now I can smell Asian food goodness. I'm going crazy!

edit: I know about Tien Hong's sunday Dim Sum, I'm really looking for something easy I can pick up any day of the week. I just went to Whole Foods on lunch and they have shrimp potstickers that will probably be my dinner, they're just not quite what I'm looking for.

thanks for the help!

psychiatrist

  • Feb. 11th, 2005 at 1:51 PM
I need a new psychiatrist because the place where I used to go, IMHS (fuck them assholes!!) closed for whatever reason. My doctor there wasn't so great anyways. I have TRS-Care from Aetna and there's a REALLY long list of psychs/behavioral health doctors. I hate picking at random, I was wondering what people have as their psych's in the north/central Austin area. I'd appreciate it. Thanks :o)

JVD is playing at the vibe tonight. They're my friends band, and even tho I don't like the kind of music they play, I'll still admit they're good. If you want to hear what they sound like, you can hear them at http://www.myspace.com/jvd I believe the show is free cover as well.

Edit.. and the show is 18+

Live Video Mixing

  • Feb. 11th, 2005 at 5:10 PM
Is there anyone in Austin who does live video mixing shows (I imagine along with music)? I'm not talking about the Pink Floyd laser light shows either... I'm talking about actual video mixing.

Do you know anybody who does this kind of stuff? I would really like to integrate something like this into our shows, but finding people who can actually do it seems to be quite difficult. I suppose the technology is still a little bit young?

Girls Night Out!

  • Feb. 11th, 2005 at 5:34 PM
Where can some single girls go to meet people? We've done the 6th street thing and we are looking for places a bit low-key. Ringside at the Sullivans is one of my hangouts -just to give you a vibe.

Thanks!
