Does anyone know of a local store that carries Via Vegan bags and/or wallets? I'm guessing there's a boutique somewhere in town that might carry them. I checked the company's Web site and it doesn't list any Austin retailers, but I also noticed that the store in Michigan where I've purchased the bags before isn't represented on the list. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Where could I get a decent, trendy haircut in or around South Austin for twenty bucks or less? I need one and don't have the slightest idea where to go. Any recommendations?
Any suggestions for a dentist/oral surgeon that won't hurt me when i have my wisdom teeth removed in the area?
I have dental insurance, but i will more than likely need to set up a payment plan as well.
I've never even had a cavity, so i'm so nervous about this procedure and would prefer to be knocked out and never to wake until two days after the procedure. I know this is highly unlikely, but...
I am not using scirex because i don't want to take a urinalysis and I heard they only use the numbing agents, and no gas, etc.
Thanks!

i just wanted to let all the geek girls out there (and yes, i mean geek in the good way) that a few of my friends and i are starting a weekly sports group and are looking for members.
the premise is pretty simple. while girls tend to stop playing sports on a regular basis as adults, guys use sports as a way to socialize. some of us think that's why guys tend to get along better with other guys than chicks do with each other -- they've learned to work together, to compete without getting angry and to play nice with strangers. so, well, why shouldn't we?
we decided to try a ten or twelve week trial. each girl will be responsible for booking one week, and we'll try a new sport every week. each girl will propose (and research where to play) two different sports for the week she's in charge of. (the word sports here is loosely defined, mind you -- anything from basketball to rock-climbing to roller-skating...as long as it gets you moving and is somewhat sweaty and can be done as a group.) anyway, once we've done the research, we'll vote on which ones we want to do which week and make up a schedule. we're thinking sundays from 2-5ish, though that's flexible. anyway, if we do it this way we don't have to commit to doing it forever, plus no one has to take charge for more than a week.
the only catch is that you have to commit for the ten-twelve week period. (if a member doesn't show up for a team sport that needs even numbers, we're sort of out of luck.) and, of course, you'll have to pay whatever fees apply to the sports places we go to. the upside is that you'll meet some fierce girls who'll be spastic at a bunch of sports with you. so you don't have to be particularly sporty, you just have to want to try things out...
for information, just go to my live journal site. http://www.livejournal.com/users/missjm p -- i'm putting up a post there about this which you can reply to or request info from.
UPDATE: i think we may have enough girls for the core group now, so if you're interested but can't commit to every sunday, check out my journal site anyway and give me your email. i'll put you on the list and you can come those weeks you can make it and we play sports where exact numbers don't matter. and, of course, if you can commit to every sunday, even better!

Does anybody know of any reliable (and preferably cheap) mechanics that allow you to book an appointment for when to come in? I'd prefer something really easy to get to from near the arboretum, and if you know they can deal with electrical problems even better.
I've found several places over the past couple of weeks, but none of them allow appointments which means that I have to wait around all day, which even though I have time, I really don't want to do. Obviously I'm happy to wait while they see my car, but I don't really want to wait while the rest of Austin gets their vehicles fixed.

to anyone who plays the domino game 42: there is a group of us who play regularly at the Crown and Anchor pub (click for directions); we'll be there around 8pm tonight. all are welcome to play. beer drinking, pool and dart throwing are also available on the premises. bring some extra bones if the spirit moves you.
Does anyone know who you would contact in Austin if you were interested in donating your body to science?
I thought the medical examiner's office might be a start, but I was hoping someone in the community would have better information.
Thank you.

I am looking for a specific product -- it's a headrest for a phone, the kind with the hook that goes over your shoulder. Not the squishy kind ... those don't grip well enough.
You can see a picture of what I'm looking for here.
Anyway, Office Depot has these discontinued; OfficeMax doesn't carry such things at all. I don't know where else to go. Are there any LOCAL office supply shops that might carry these? I think G&L/VBJ closed down, and I can't think of any other ones.
I'll order it online if I have to, but I'd rather get it locally (Austin TX or surrounding).
