Phantom!

  • Jan. 13th, 2004 at 12:00 AM
ACtually...I have two questions.

One...where might I be able to get tix to the Phantom of the Opera for V-day?

Two...are there any other nice places to eat besides the Oasis that might be fun for a date on V-day? Preferably someplace where the sunset can be viewed. (:

Thanks!

I'm looking for a print-shop in town, to print up some "trading cards". (Think "baseball cards".) I want snazzy, sharp color on one side, nice greyscale on reverse, and a good thick card. Quality is most important, then supporting local business, and after that comes price. (Good turnaround time and cutting/sorting service are also considerations.) The volume I'm thinking are in the range of ~1000 copies of ~100 different card designs.

Thanks for any recommendations!

What are some good online resources for Austin job listings (besides Craigslist, Dice, Monster, and Hotjobs)? I'm looking for software development (C++) work, and I'm out of state right now. Thanks!

Oral Surgeons?

  • Jan. 13th, 2004 at 12:46 PM
Hey kids -
Has anyone around here had a non-traumatic experience with getting their wisdom teeth out? I am going to have to, and I have a referral from my dentist, but I want to hear from people who have had it done. I prefer someone that is close to the north-central area (I am right by the ghost of Robert Mueller), but if this surgeon is damned good, I would be willing to travel a little.

I already went to Scirex and don't qualify for their study, so that is not an option. Also, feel free to let me know if you had a horrible experience with someone so that I can avoid them.

Thanks!

An apology about censorship

  • Jan. 13th, 2004 at 12:58 PM
I do NOT like to censor posts in this community. I'd rather not ever have to do it, but sometimes, to cover the community's ass, I will. So if your post is inappropriate - and think innappropriate as being suggesting illegal activity, hateful speech, completely off-topic posts, or just generally giving a creepy as hell vibe - I will delete your post.

The post I deleted just now fell into the "creepy" land. If you're looking for someone to model underwear - and a specific set at that - wouldn't mentioning the size matter? Wouldn't you need to establish your profession as a photographer and publish your address, etc? I'm sure the post was innocent (at least I hope so), but I'm not taking the chance that it wasn't.

Photo Framing

  • Jan. 13th, 2004 at 3:43 PM
Does anyone know the best place to get photos framed cheaply, yet professionaly? I need gallery quality non-clip framing. I've checked out Hobby Lobby, but I'd love to find another place to get my work framed.

Mmmmmmchocolate....

I'm sure everyone is just on pins and needles, so I figured I'd let y'all know:

I found the (not so) elusive chocolate orange mini segments!

Sure enough, Walgreens had 'em. Tch... you'd think I would have tried there.

Thanks all for your suggestions!

publishing job

  • Jan. 13th, 2004 at 5:09 PM
What publishing companies like to hire inexperienced people with bachelor's degrees in English as editorial assistants in the fine fine city of Austin?
OR
what big publishing companies are there in Austin?
I am moving to Austin (hopefully) in October (unless we pony up a bunch of cash to break our lease) and have time to start looking for a job.
Thanks everyone.

Lazy man's questions

  • Jan. 13th, 2004 at 6:09 PM
How much does it cost to get the title transfer and new plates on a car down here?

Also, and I know this is totally a lame question, do I need a Texas Drivers License to do that? I've got a valid Drivers License but it's still from Illinois.

Thanks in advance

jean sizes.

  • Jan. 13th, 2004 at 8:42 PM
sorry for the random question, [info]ironman1231... haha.

does anyone know how to convert jean sizes from guys' to girls' sizes? or is there a size conversion chart available? guys' jeans seem to go by waist size in inches, while girls' jeans use those crazy numbers that mean absolutely nothing to me.

thanks in advance!
