Spoken word and live music:
Friday January 9.
8pm.
La Tazza Fresca.
No cover.
All ages.
Dan Solomon (spoken word by your humble narrator)
Shannon McGarvey (spoken word from San Marcos)
The Criswell Seven (Velvet Underground-meets-Neil Diamond inspired rock from Houston)
Maybe a surprise guest or two.
This'll be a fun show. La Tazza Fresca is a neat venue. It will be out by eleven o'clock so you can still enjoy the rest of your Friday night plans. In fact, if you go to this show first, wherever else you are heading that day you will appear to be a man or woman about town, always fashionably late, and very attractive members of whichever gender you are interested in will want very badly to sleep with you. You're welcome.
Please check it out.

I've heard this song before but I never got the name of the singer. Can someone help me remember?
There's something happening here... What it is I'm not exactly sure...
There's battle lines being drawn Nobody's right if everybody's wrong
Hey stop, what's that sound? Everybody look what's going down...
Do those lyrics help any?

does anyone have any information about homecs.com?
I know so many of these work from home places are total scams or worse but I am curious about this one.
Has anyone had any interactions with them or have any information about them?
thanks

I have 4 drapes that I bought to go above a counter top, and they need to be cut to the right length and hemmed. I can have it pinned and ready to go and wondering if either someone has a good recommendation for a cheap place to do it, or can do it for me for cheap.

Anybody down to make a new friend and go out with me tomorrow night? I'm gonna hit up the queer dives downtown, drink and DANCE MY ASS OFF. Who's with me?

I'm glad the Frog is saved. But I still feel a sense of loss that it's being roped off like it's a musuem piece. There was something so wild and free about it just living there on the side of a building without needing protection. It's still pretty groovy as it is.
It still sums up so much of what I love about Austin. It's weird but still down-to-earth, friendly but quietly subversive. Amateurish, heartfelt, and most of all fun.
I see "Keep Austin Weird" a lot of places. For me, "keeping" is not just about "preserving". It's "Keep Making Austin Weird." Keep doing the weird things you do. Keep supporting people making weird things, not just the weird things they've already made.
