PICNIC!!! YAY!!!
Pease Park, southern end where all the tables and swings are.
Tomorrow, Saturday, Jan. 3rd.
Starts at 2pm
Potluck!!!
So that we all know how much to bring and whats already covered, filling out this poll would totally be great of ya'll. I'm already planning on basic sammich fixins (bread, lettace, toms, avocado, P&B) but anything special, you're welcome to bring. Also, anyone who would volunteer to bring cheese and meat totally gets a gold star. Bring drinks, sides, entrees, desserts and/or whatever else strikes your fancy. :-)
Poll #227550 Potluck Picnic
Open to: All, detailed results viewable to: All
I wanna see some frisbees, basketballs, and fun peoples. Also, this may be a good time for the carless (myself included) to find a ride, figure out the bus route, or how to bike over there. If I'm forgetting anything, gimme a holla'.

It's time for the annual exam. For the first time since I moved to Austin I have to go somewhere other than my beloved University Health Center. So please recommend to me a good OBGYN. I live and work in the UT campus area and would prefer to see a doctor in that area.
My awesome little sister is visiting from L.A. and is turning 21 on Sunday....but she doesn't drink. So I'm trying to come up with something really cool to do with her to make such an important birthday memorable and need help with ideas.
She builds race cars and races them at her school--is there any sort of rent-a-race-car-grand-prix type thing open on Sunday anywhere in Austin?
I'd also love to take her dancing. Salsa or swing would be best, but any dance club where people actually DANCE that was open on a Sunday would be good. She's never been able to get into the clubs before.
Any special screenings of movies on Sunday? Performance poetry or spectacular dance/theater show?
Any special events, concerts, shows, classes, etc. to do on Sunday?
Any truely unique Austin experiences I could expose her (and myself?) to?
I just want to make this a special birthday for her, even though she's not drinking and not in California with her friends.

Is there another Japanese grocery in town besides Asahi? I know of the asian market off of Lamar...but it doesnt have what I need.
I will be getting more work done on my tat soon as well as getting a facial piercing. I need input on who is good out there in Austin and who I should veer away from...
Also...
What is the smallest gauge I could get for a lower-lip labret? I would like it so that I could wear a small hoop if I wanted...but I dont really want a large stud ball. I was hoping for a small ruby or tiger eye...
Heh. Maybe I should get piercings like Ichi (for any Japanese horror fans)...get one of those flip-top heads...hehe.

I don't want to bring politics into this channel, but I thought everyone should know that there's going to be a big protest tomarrow at the capitol. There's going to be presidential candidates from a few different political parties giving speaches. The info is at http://austinagainstwar.org/ .
Hopefully this post won't bring politics into this community, and I was supprised that no one in Austin really knows that there is a protest tomarrow, so hopefully this post won't get deleted.

Hi everyone!
I would post this to the Austin For Sale community, however: 1) I am not a member, and 2) I'm not selling this.
I'm moving into a new apartment this weekend, and I'm interested in parting with my chest-of-drawers. It's a dark brown wood stain, and it's 5 drawers tall. All are full size drawers, and I've kept my sheets and towels and such in it for about 2 years.
It was previously a gift from a friend, so I'm not sure how old it is. It has a couple dings and scratches, but nothing that you'd soil your pants over. Oh, and a glow-in-the-dark star sticker (very small) stuck on the side. Other than that, it's in perfectly good condition, but I have a linen closet in the new place and have no need for this anymore.
I don't care about making any money off of it, but I would like to pass it along to someone who could make use out of it. If you or anyone you know could benefit from such a piece of furniture, by all means, comment here. I'd like to part with it tomorrow (Saturday) or Sunday at the latest. Thanks so much!

attention all you harry potter fans and late-night noshers of fried pickles!
i get off work every night at about 11 p.m., and i always end up at katz's for a few hours of kicking back and sucking down some fried pickles and ice cream while reading harry potter (i'm on book four). and you know... i was thinking... wouldn't it be cool if a great big bunch of us all showed up at katz's at midnight some night with our harry potter books and had a big read-in...
so, here's the deal.
show up at katz's (if you are in downtown austin, just go down west sixth street toward mopac and it will be on the right) at midnight with your book in hand, and let's eat fried pickles and malts and talk about harry potter theories and conspiracies and whether or not harry and herminone will ever hook up (and you KNOW they will!)
hit me at my journal to confirm so i know if anyone is coming!
rock!
