Welcome to austen_lims, a new Jane Austen icon challenge community! From the 14th May onwards, there will be a series of challenges to determine the best icon maker among you. Every week, a picture will be provided. Each participant will submit one icon based on that picture. When the voting takes place, participants will vote against the icons that they think worst quality. Every week, a number of icon(maker)s will be eliminated until there will be one last icon maker standing.

RULES
Signing Up
If you would like to participate in the challenges, please, sign up here until May 14th. I would suggest friending the community. It makes it easier to follow the challenge and voting posts.
Submissions
The first challenge will go up on Monday, May 14th. You will have five days to create an icon of the picture provided and to submit your icon to the approriate entry.
Please, post your icon in a comment to the entry specifying the current challenge. The comments will be screened. When posting your icon make sure to provide both, the icon and its url. Do not post your icon anywhere else until the contest has ended.
You must enter every challenge until you are voted off. However, every participant will be allowed one bye-week, meaning that he or she can choose to sit out on that challenge and still continue the competition. If you choose to do so, comment to this post. If you miss a challenge without having requested a 'bye', you will be disqualified. Once there are only three contestants left, you are no longer allowed to use a 'bye'.
Voting
First of all, instead of voting for your favorite icons, you will be voting for your least favorite icons. When voting, you will comment with the numbers of your least favorite icons and the reason why you think them low quality. The comments will be screened. At the end of the voting period, the icon(maker)s with the most votes will be disqualified from the contest.
In addition, every participant will have one vote for his or her favourite icon. Nobody is allowed to vote for his or her own icon! The person winning the majority of votes will receive an additional 'bye'. The maximum number of 'byes' a participant can receive is three, that is, nobody can receive more than two additional 'byes'.
