Well, somehow, after three and a half years, I've finally finished drawing May.
I've been pretty bad with getting it done and updating consistently, but I guess a lot has happened since we started this project: when we first conceived of the idea, Jordyn and I were sitting around in my basement apartment in the end of our first year at Emily Carr, looking for something artistic to do together over the summer while she stayed in Vancouver and I returned to Edmonton.
Since then, we've both been through a lot, including three years of animation classes, our Augusts and Mays spent in both Edmonton and Vancouver, grad films, trips to Ottawa, curating shows together, some crazy road trips, and a whole lot more. I for one know that I had no idea when I started this project that by the time I finished I'd be in Halifax with degree in hand (or in a dresser drawer in my parents' house, at least).
So: Thank you. Thank you to everyone who stuck around despite the sporadic updates and inconsistent artwork, and thank you to Jordyn Freakin' Bochon, that extremely talented rock star who wrote this fantastic script and let me mess around with the pictures for it. I hope that my drawings haven't done it too much of a disservice -- I really think the script for May is clever, well-written, and full of more well-crafted plot and memorable characters than I've ever been able to come up with in my own work. I salute you, comrade.
It's been a long time coming, so here is the end. Keep your eye on this lj community though, as I have a feeling that you'll be hearing from The Bochon herself sometime soon.

There was supposed to be six panels in this update, but then after colouring the final panel I decided that I really hated it, so I will post a new final panel or two on Monday (due to Thanksgiving), and then start page 16 next Thursday!

The first couple updates were drawn a million years ago and have been sitting around waiting for me to colour them. I'll be updating on Sundays and Thursdays to the best of my ability, hopefully straight through until it's done. Updates will be 1/2 to 1/3 of a page -- there's still 1/3 left to this page, which will go up on Thursday.

whoa, it's been a while!
but hey, I only have 4 more pages until I finish this thing, and even with my ludicrously slow updating, I think I can have it done by the time I graduate in May. Slowest 16-page comic EVER! We started this project in 2004. That's like....5 pages a year? Ha ha ha!
