Earthsea anime update
For anyone following Ghibli's anime adaptation of Earthsea (Gedo Senki):

Ghibli has announced some of the Japanese voice cast- Bunta Sugawara (Kamaji in Spirited Away) as Ged, and Junichi Okada as Prince Arren.

On another note, I hope we see some work from it soon...it should be really pretty ^_^

I am really looking forward to this - but - hmmmmm - if that's Ged (or Arren) than he still looks like, to use le Guin's own phrase "a honky"

It looks like it's Arren since the voice actor for Ged is like 72 years old. O.o The older man on the left looks like Ged, because he has darker skin..

Does that mean this is an adaptation of The Farthest Shore then, rather than A Wizard of Earthsea? x.x; Ugggh.

My guess is it's going to be a very distant adaptation (consider the difference between Dianna Wynne Jones' Howl's Moving Castle vs Ghibli's Howl's Moving Castle), and that's okay.

I meant in the two small pieces of art under the photographs...

You mean, over the photographs? If you look at the older cartoon man on the left, he has darker skin and a grey scar on his far cheek. That must be Ged. If Ged is older, then logically, the young cartoon boy is Arren.

Sorry - my screen is two small to see the scar - you are probably right.

Yes, I'm about 70% sure that it was confirmed to be following the later books, rather than wizard and such...

Keeping in mind, Gedo Senki is 'Story of Ged', NOT Earthsea or Wizard of Earthsea, etc...
