| Political but worth reading... |
[03 Oct 2008|11:06am] |
I did'nt watch the debate last night, I worked and then went to bed a bit early. Yeah I live the big life lol. I did however catch up on it this morning and I keep up with the political stuff going on in the world via the internet rather than the newspapers. Also not just believing everything I read i do my research on things as well so am pretty well up on various nuances of things. This post by someone who's a friend of a friend hit home and is REALLY good. Please read and if you like it go say hi and thank you.

Edit...this was intended for dragonspam lj however I am leaving it here. Feel free to click on the dragons as it gets them to adulthood faster. Please and thank you.
Okay I can't seem to get a boy dragon for the life of me. I have 21 dragons so far, for the most part that's two of each of a color so far, one of some colors in some cases. Out of the 21 I have 3 boys, three, I mean come on argh. Girl names are all ending in a, boys in s if anyone is wondering...

| A quote from Phillip Pullman on the banning/burning of books (stolen from boingboing.net) |
[30 Sep 2008|09:29am] |
|
"Because they never learn. The inevitable result of trying to ban something – book, film, play, pop song, whatever – is that far more people want to get hold of it than would ever have done if it were left alone. Why don't the censors realise this?... In fact, when it comes to banning books, religion is the worst reason of the lot. Religion, uncontaminated by power, can be the source of a great deal of private solace, artistic inspiration, and moral wisdom. But when it gets its hands on the levers of political or social authority, it goes rotten very quickly indeed. The rank stench of oppression wafts from every authoritarian church, chapel, temple, mosque, or synagogue – from every place of worship where the priests have the power to meddle in the social and intellectual lives of their flocks, from every presidential palace or prime ministerial office where civil leaders have to pander to religious ones... My basic objection to religion is not that it isn't true; I like plenty of things that aren't true. It's that religion grants its adherents malign, intoxicating and morally corrosive sensations. Destroying intellectual freedom is always evil, but only religion makes doing evil feel quite so good."

I'm four hours and three feet into making a tom baker scarf. I'm hoping to start knitting geeky stuff and selling it online for extra money since I can't work as much as I'd like and I'm falling behind financially. I'll let everyone know when my etsy site is up.

| Is Palin qualified. |
[25 Sep 2008|02:43pm] |
My mom sent me this, though with hers it had instructions to vote so that everyone said yes.
I think everyone should use their own judgement but do vote.
Do you think Sarah Palin is qualified to serve as Vice President of the United States?

I can explain this vast hiatus only in terms of time devoted to my own betterment and improvement, things I never imagined would be at my availability. In the past months I have acquired several necessary skills and insight so as to more efficiently cope with life's fluctuating vicissitudes of fortune, for which I am very grateful. Never before had such an outlook appear possible, or probable, but I can only thank God, or the powers that be, for this miraculous transformation. My old patterns and ways of thinking have undergone a wonderful metamorphosis and has proven that contentment, even feelings of happiness, are indeed possible for me. I've discovered the secrets to this new existence, and will labor to maintain this current, long overdue homeostasis that has become my life.

| no..thats the P.C. way to say it |
[23 Sep 2008|11:07am] |
So i have an age-ed co-worker that i frequently give a hard time to. Whenever he talks about college or H.S. or whatever i feel the need to insert comments about dinosaurs and biblical figures and having trilobites as pets.
We were talking about HS reunions and he mentioned something about people looking the same and someone asked him when he graduated. So i jumped in "1250 B.C.! or ...B.C.E is more correct. " which lead to an argument about how...BCE is just there to take out jesus and that' s wrong. "it's not correct, it's PC". Which gets me because it's only an affront when it omits things referring to his faith.
So naturally the only way to respond to this was to be catty with another co-worker on instant messenger. under the cut for potty mouth ( wonderful catty poetry )
