Eureka

I was bummed that my recording of last night's Eureka was scrambled so looks like I'll have to wait until next Tuesday to view the episode.

Olympics

Men's 200m Final was a bit of a mess with the original 2nd (Martina) and 3rd (Spearmon) place finishers being disqualified (unfortunate, but rightly so) though there was no doubting Usain Bolt's victory. Like him or hate him there's no denying his ability.

There's no denying the excellence of the Jamaican runners this Olympics.

The Women's Gold Medal match for Soccer should be good: USA vs. Brazil. Always a competitive match-up.

Okay, who invented this having-to-pee-all-the-time thing? Because I had to pee a lot before. Now? We are bordering on comical.

I feel like those commercials with the giant ladies' room symbol and the woman with the sympathetic voice or those dancing balloons that are about to explode are talking directly to me. My faithful books tell me this is due to hormones right now but that later it will be due to the watermelon sitting on my bladder. Dude, right now it's just a tadpole.

You are making a huge mistake. Aug. 20th, 2008 @ 10:55 pm

Stargate Atlantis was canceled. WHAT THE FRAK. That show was very good and had serious potential. I am not even remotely interested in the shit they have coming out. There is a rumor that MGM canceled it. Now, where is the logic in that?! If SGA was canceled to make room for Stargate: Universe, I will be pissed off even more. The pitch of SGU is not remotely interesting. I do not plan on watching it.

I watch Eureka, Ghost Hunters, Ghost Hunters International and may even watch Sanctuary but I will not pitch a fit if I miss an episode, but if I missed Stargate SG1, Atlantis or Battlestar Galactica, I would get pissy because I genuinely love those shows. The other shows, by comparison, do not even compete with my three favorite shows. I will watch them but could do without them. Hell, I was angry when NBC canceled The 4400, great show, left on a cliffhanger, too. I really have no reason to keep the network in my channel list with my cable company so I will cancel it when the last episodes of BSG and Stargate Atlantis air.

What is strange is that Stargate Atlantis was canceled (20 August 2008) the day before SG1 was canceled (21 August 2006).

I am so pissed.

Hey y'all...writing this from lovely Duncan, B.C. It's a nice 15c out and SUCH a welcome change from the hideous temps last Summer! ICK! I cried when I flew into Vancouver. Well...unshed tears, anyway. Didn't want the whole damned plane to know what a wuss they had on board.

Couldn't help it though...I feel like Vancouver is where I belong. As much as I love America, and love California...the emotional attachment I have to Vancouver is incredible. I lvoe the scenary, the people...the general feeling I get when I'm there. And since this is my third time through I have a pretty good grasp on the area.

I'm only in Duncan for the night, then will be heading back to Vancouver tomorrow for the convention.

Meeting my nephew was awesome. He's such a big boy! Hard to believe he was born a week after I left here last Summer. *sigh* And he loves his auntie Ferret. *nods*

Alrighty...more to come once the con starts.

Got a bonus at work, go me, and I'm thinking of doing  a tattoo on my right upper arm.  So I've been scouring the net for about two months now and the bonus came in on this check I get Friday.  I think I have it narrowed down to two designs, both are cats, but I'm really liking one design in particular.   To top it off, the place I got my first two tats closed down, but they've reopened in a new location and I found them quite by accident last weekend, so I'm going to have it done there when I decide.  So yeah.

I'm looking for cat tattoos, anything with a Celtic or Irish feel to it or anything that can something like that added if anyone sees anything.  :)

Stargate Atlantis will end this season Aug. 20th, 2008 @ 10:48 pm

This is some of the worst news I've heard in a long time.

I'm glad to see that there will be Atlantis films after the series ends its run. I don't like the idea of it ending now, but I would rather see it go out on a high note than to snag a page from the X Files and stretch out longer than necessary. There's still plenty of room for the novels and movies.

I have only two words for the Sci Fi Channel:

I apparently go to the same optometry office as Liz Vassey. Unfortunately, I had NO idea who she was and couldn't IMDb her at the time, or I would've been all "OMG YOU MET BAD HORSE WHATS HE LIKE IN REAL LIFE??" like a spaz (because it's funny!) I can tell you unequivocably, though, that when you're in the same room as someone who works in the "industry" you feel really amazingly fat. 0_o

No, seriously. I think I gained 30 mental pounds just sharing the same air as her.

We all know one. A friend on our LJ F-list who posts good articles. Good long articles. Articles we want to read but sometimes have trouble slogging through, despite our interest. Now, there's a solution!

Spreeder.com!

Paste the article text into it and it will flash the words in one place so you don't get lost, keep it at a reasonable speed so you don't drift and you can pause it if real life interrupts. I found myself paying a lot more attention to articles than normal and getting through them faster as well.

Yep, it's true, Stargate Atlantis has been cancelled. More info here.

Joe M confirms in the comments of today's entry and says he'll address it in tomorrow's entry. I can't say I'm surprised; Joe M has been hinting about it for months now. Still, totally sucks. :(

Multichannel reports that season 5 is the last season for Stargate Atlantis.

‘Stargate Atlantis’ Ends Sci Fi First Run After Season 5

2-Hour TV-Movie Greenlit For 2009 As Stargate Franchise Lives On In Features

By Kent Gibbons -- Multichannel News, 8/20/2008 5:59:00 PM

Space drama Stargate Atlantis will conclude its run on Sci Fi Channel after the current, fifth season ends next January -- but the network has greenlit a two-hour Atlantis movie to run after that and says the show will live on as a network franchise.

After airing on Sci Fi sometime next year, the untitled Atlantis movie will be sold as a home-video title by producer MGM, Sci Fi told Multichannel News on Wednesday.

MGM this year released two financially successful straight-to-DVD movies made after progenitor series Stargate SG-1 ended a 10-year run of first-run cable episodes on Sci Fi. MGM and the show producers are scheduled to make more in DVDs in future. A movie franchise is also envisioned for Stargate Atlantis.

Click on link above for the full article.

Meanwhile, we get a two-hour movie instead of 20 hours. I can't say I'm all that thrilled that Mallozzi and partner will pen the movie.

Sigh. This sucks. Feel free to rant in the comments section.
