Atlanta Braves (40-41) @ Toronto Blue Jays (38-43)

Tim Hudson (8-5, 2.96) vs. John Parrish (NR)

10:07 pm ET

The Braves have won 4 of 6. They have won 5 of 8 on the road despite just being 12-27 away from home overall. A win in today's game would put them at .500 for the first time since June 8. The Blue Jays have already been shut out 6 times this season and twice in their last 7 games. They have still won 3 of 5 since losing 7 in a row and have scored 34 runs over their last 5 games. Toronto is 3-4 under new manager Cito Gaston coming into today's game.

Tim Hudson will be trying to get his 2nd career interleague win and 2nd in a row. He hurled 7 scoreless frames against the Mariners last time out and allowed just 4 hits, but had gone 0-10 with a 7.82 ERA in 12 Interleague Play contests as a Brave prior to that. He was 10-2 with a 2.50 ERA in 21 such starts as an Athletic between 1999 and 2004. Hudson is 1-2 with a 6.06 ERA in Interleague Play so far in 2008. He is a lifetime 10-2 with a 2.61 mark against Toronto, but is 0-1 against them as a Brave, as he allowed 5 runs in 7 frames in a 6-3 home loss in June 2006.

John Parrish is filling in for Shaun Marcum, who is shelfed with a right elbow strain. Parrish has not yet pitched in the majors this season, but is 10-1 with a 2.74 ERA in 11 starts and 4 relief appearances at AAA-Syracuse. Parrish has a career 12-12 record and 4.63 ERA in 161 career outings, mostly as an Oriole. He is 2-6 with a 6.85 ERA in 10 lifetime big league starts. This will be his first start since 2004, second since 2001, and first against the Braves.

First baseman Mark Teixeira is batting .429 with 5 homers and 10 RBI over his last 6 games. The Braves are now 4-10 without third baseman Chipper Jones in the starting lineup. He has missed 6 straight starts with his right quad injury. Left fielder Brandon Jones is just 4-for-24 after a hot start.

Utilityman Joe Inglett is hitting .421 (8-for-19) with a double, a homer, 3 walks, 3 RBI and 5 runs in his last 5 games. Outfielder Alex Rios is batting .500 (11-for-22) during his 5-game hitting streak.

I'll never understand why Bobby continues to use Acosta in close situations. Boyer has fixed his issues. Use him.
