Tiramisu
Does anyone know of a great place I can get a whole Tiramisu in Atlanta. Many of the places I've been to just make a cream based Tiramisu. In lieu of I'd love to know any place you know of that makes great cakes..

Dunno about tiramisu, but Alon's Bakery on N. Highland is an EXCELLENT bakery.

I like them too but they do this creme concoction for their Tiramisu. We have Chocolate Pink around the corner which has amazing little desserts which I have to say I prefer to Alon's.

Marietta Diner makes great cakes and can possibly create tiramisu upon request.

I love Marietta Dinner, Pasta Bella, and CCC...unfortunately, the last few times I have been, the deserts have not been too good. So sad.

I've heard the tiramisu available at DeKalb farmer's market is ***to-die-for***! I've seen them selling it at a per-pound rate. But I'm not sure if it is always available tho' as I've seen a wide variety of cakes/pastries on that shelf at different times...

Ippolito's up here in Marietta makes a really yummy tiramisu. I think they sell it whole as well.

I've got an AWESOME recipe for tiramisu, it's super easy, Mascarpone based, and I've never had any complaints.
Happy to share, if you need it. :)

Screw it, I'll post it here.

You're gonna need

- 2/3 cup Strong Black Coffee
- 2 medium eggs, separated
- 3 tbsp super fine sugar (or powdered, if you can't find superfine sugar)
- 1 1/4 cups Mascarpone Cheese (There's a coffee flavored version which is nice too, but I just use regular - the choice is yours)
- 1/4 cup brandy or dark rum (or your choice of liqueur)
- Lady Fingers 30 or so
- Cocoa powder for dusting

What you do

- Brew and cool your coffee.
- Beat the egg yolks and sugar until pale, light and creamy
- Soften the Mascarpone in a bowl and gradually stir in the yolk mixture
- Whisk the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff (I use the whisk attachment for my hand beater)
- GENTLY fold the whites into the mascarpone mixture
- Mix the coffee and the liqueur
- Quickly dip both sides of each lady finger into the coffeebooze
- Arrange the dipped ladyfingers onto your serving dish (I use a trifle bowl, but you could do this as a bar type cake if you're feeling energetic)
- Spoon some of the mascarpone mixture over the layer of lady fingers, then dust with the cocoa powder
- Repeat until ingredients are gone, finishing with a layer of mascarpone and dust with the cocoa powder
- Stick it in the fridge for a few hours before serving to stiffen it up, but you could serve it right away if you need to.

Enjoy. :)

I haven't tried their Tiramisu, but Doceur De France in Marietta is an amazing little French bakery. The website is www.doceurdefrance.com
