I just wanna have something to doooo!
So ive officially been an Atlanta resident for about 7 months now and i love it hear.

My girlfriend is going out of town to see family and i will be bored out of my mind with no one to hang out with sooooo

Anybody know of any good shows/entertaining things/great drink specials going on for Thursday and Friday night? Any suggestions. I havent done anything really since ive moved here and its a shame so i thought i would see the town.

I live right down the street from Downtown and Little Five so those would be good places for me to hit.

Any ideas would be awesome! Thank you!

purely for self-serving reasons, you should totally check out Wordsmiths open mic night on Friday. Granted, it's in Decatur, but it's a cavalcade of insanity-some amazingly funny, tongue-in-cheek stuff, some overly self-serious stuff, totally free and in a great location.

Of Mice and Men is at the Shakespeare Tavern this month.

We REALLY liked the performance although be warned that it is a bit dark.

My uncle loved that too. He says:

" Wow!

The supporting cast were all as good as we know they can be, Mo's direction was superb, and the music was exceptionally appropriate and well done, but it would be hard to put into words how terrific we thought the performances of Messrs Reeves and Smith were. Atlanta audiences are frequently and deservedly reviled for their omnipresent standing ovations (usually because they're tired of sitting), but I had to get up when those two came out for bows. I'm not normally brought to the brink of tears by anything that doesn't concern monetary outgo, but I decided pretty early on that I'd better keep a napkin close by, just in case.

Thanks to my deficient schooling (Sprayberry H.S., 1958) and my general laziness, I've never read the book. After such an emotional wrenching, I'm not sure I could force myself to read it now (but maybe I'll try).

I feel sure that a certain unnamed local critic, if he bothers to review it, will shoehorn in as much negativity as he can come up with. In the immortal words of The Bard, "To Hell with him."

I'm sending bccs of this drivel to friends (yes, I have a few), with the recommendation that they try to get to the Tavern between now and April 6 to see "Of Mice and Men." As you well know, my opinion is such a crowd mover that you'll probably have to hold it over (ATL theatregoers should be so lucky). http://shakespearetavern.com/ "

LOL...your uncle is Jim Davis?

I work there and have "known" him for years...very funny guy.

And yes, do come to The Tavern at some point, Original Poster.

Well, the Thrashers are playing Friday night, and tickets are as low as $10.

However, if you're not a sports fan, I got nuthin.

The hockey game will be burried under flashing lights, excessive music, flame jets, Cheerleaders, and movie clips played on the JumboTron.

But there's a lot of good beer, and not a bad seat in the house.
