Event venue and catering
My mom's 50th birthday is in May, and my dad and I are planning to throw her a party. The downside is that neither of us really knows the first thing about throwing a party :)

1) What we are looking for is a hall or rented space of some kind. We are thinking there will be about 50 people and we're going with a "Fiesta" theme because mom is the queen of tequila and margaritas. We don't have a specific budget in mind, but it should be cheap because my dad just got laid off last week. We live way up north in Acworth, but it doesn't necessarily need to be close to us since guests will be coming from all parts of town, including out of town.

2) I've heard that Moe's has awesome catering, and this is an option we are considering. Any other suggestions for getting Mexican food catered?

Thanks!

I attended an event of about 30 people which Moe's catered and it was very good.

I know there's companies that rent margarita machines. I wouldn't be surprised if some of the chain Mexican restaurants rent them with the food. The Mansell House in Alpharetta might be able to supply you would a list of Mexican caterers. I scoped the place out for a wedding and they had a nice list of vendors they hand out and I remember her saying they quite often have low budget Mexican themed weddings in there.

Personally, I like the food better from Willy's.

A friend threw an awesome wedding shower for me and my now-husband catered by On the Border. Everyone liked it.

I just threw a huge party for my mom's 50th.

Some of the best venues are places like country clubs, neighborhood club houses, etc. You want to find a venue BEFORE you commit to a caterer, though, because some venues will require you to use their catering. If you have questions, or need help, feel free to email me :)
