Creme de la Creme
Does anyone have any Creme de la Creme uniforms you'd like to sell or give away? My coworker has her 2 year old starting there next week and is looking for second hand uniforms, since she knows her little girl will outgrow the clothes so quickly. She hasn't been able to find any on Ebay.

No uniforms...just an icon comment.

Your icon is familiar! I have that as a sticker on my car. It's finally getting to the point where I need to remove it, though. It's been there for about six years. :D

Uniforms at a daycare? That's crazy... I've never heard of that!

This place is like $1500 a month. It is like a mini-school for toddlers and all the teachers have to have actual teaching degrees! She showed me her application and it was like 40 pages.

wow, for that much her kid could get a college education! 18,000/year for daycare is outrageous.

Not surprising. Daycare in the city of Atlanta averages $200/week (and one pays by how many Mondays there are -- so sometimes you pay for 4 weeks, sometimes 5).

The cost of childcare in the US is increasing at 2x the rate of inflation.

Not at all -- they serve 10+ hours a day for parents with early drop-off, late-pick-up issues. The program of study includes foreign languages, native linguistic development, music, art, computer usage, and social skills through play. Food is included (breakfast, lunch, two snacks). Extra programs are offered as well on an ad-hoc (and cost) basis, but the core is solid.

It works out to $36/hr, which is on par with other programs with worse hours and curricula. The teachers are paid a living wage, have benefits, and your child is treated with respect, while given a framework that supports discipline and development.

And, depending on income, the cost is deductible as a child-care expense related to you going to work.

If I paid for something like that I'd have less than $500 a month left over. There would be no point in working. One years daycare there was what I paid for my college education.

It is definitely an upscale facility and would be way too much for many families. I'm not so worried about it in her case, though. She's making nearly 200k and is a single mom. She needs the long hours of care available and can afford to make it a great environment. I've heard nothing but praise for this center, for those who can afford it.

True, I wasn't doubting the greatness of the center. I just thought it was outrageous, that's all.

When my kids left Creme, they had all the skills needed to skip kindergarden entirely. Not that I wanted that -- socialization in a new setting is critical, and K is a key to transitioning into the primary school mentality -- but it was nice to know how much they'd learned.

Creme de la Creme is a joke!

I worked at a Creme De La Creme in Atlanta, and it is not worth the money. I doubt if the majority of their "teachers" even graduated from high school, let alone college. At the Creme that I worked at, the majority of "teachers" were high school drop-outs. Creme De La Creme tries to put on this facade that it's a high-end daycare, but it's no better that much cheaper centers. So save your money and take your children elsewhere. The children are not the priority here, the money they bring in is, hence the silly uniforms.

Consignment sales often have them, in the areas where a Creme is.... Mt. Bethel Methodist (on Lower Roswell Rd) is coming up, and a Creme is just around the corner on Woodlawn. Well worth checking out.

I'll have to look into this place. As a teacher, it might be the kind of place I could get on board with.
