Rescued Cats in Need of a Home
From October 2006 to September 2007, I implemented a TNR (trap-neuter-release) program on my street in the East Atlanta Village. I successfully trapped and neutered 22 cats during this time. I released the older feral cats and I took in the younger kittens in hopes of finding homes for them. Five have been adopted and six remain in foster homes. I would like to highlight two of the remaining fosters who are in need of a loving home.

Serafina

This is Serafina. She was born in early May 2007. She is spayed and FIV/FeLv negative. She has received flea treatment and dewormer. She has also received her first round of FVRCP vaccinations.

Sera needs a loving and patient home, as she is very shy. She loves to be pet, but is still very cautious of humans. She needs a little encouragement to bring out her sweet personality. She has a brother named Lawrence who also needs a loving home.

Lawrence

This is Lawrence. He was born in early May 2007. He is neutered and FIV/FeLv negative.

Lawrence is also sweet and shy, like his sister, Serafina.

My experience with shy cats has shown me that they come around to be the sweetest companions.

Contact: spcads at mac.com if you are interested in adopting one or both of these sweet babies.

Thank you for caring.

I wish I could help, I love all cats. I do want to commend you for leading with Sera's picture though. Smart move. Good luck!

You are a saint! Thanks so much for your work. I have 5 cats, including 2 recues & a stray, so no more room at the inn, but I wanted to say thanks for your awesome work.

Hey, thanks. It was hard work, but I am so glad that I did it. There are too many homeless animals in Atlanta.

Sad, but true. I have a friend who is the asst dir of Pup & Cat Co up in the Buford/Flowery Branch area. They have been around for over a decade & do amazing work for both dogs & cats.

The owner will keep cats for years until she can get them socialized enough that they can be placed into homes. She is something else.

Exactly what I was going to say. Thank you for your action!

I rescued my cat after finding her as a kitten on a construction site.

I wish I could take them, but we've got a full house - 6 rescues & fosters, and 1 deliberate acquisition. All are alters, indoors-only, FELV neg, etc.

I'm envious of your success in placing former ferals. Two of mine are former ferals and my most "urgently needed homes". ScriptKitty a big-time lapfungus purring machine who can't get enough petting and play - only she can't be picked up or feel "confined". The other is CatFive, and she's still very skittish (abuse case as well as feral), loves to be scratched and brushed and played with, but nervous when too close to anyone. Sometimes I can get CatFive onto my lap, and then she just totally breaks into major purring, kneading and happytails until she realizes OMG HUMAN LOOMINGOVERME!!!! and zooms off.

Agreed, the shy ones are the sweetest. They soooo want the ear and shoulder and tail scratching that our other cats enjoy, they just have this issue with Trust that has to be gotten over with :)

I'm open to suggestions. The biggest problem blocking their placement is socialization (few people want to bother with a skittish adult cat instead of a kitten), and the biggest problem blocking their socialization is lack of time on my part to give them gobs of attention and desensitize CatFive. ScriptKitty social-wise is ready for a home, but I'd prefer to place them together because they are best buddies.
