Current music:"I Miss You" - Blink-182 (on 99X)

I'm not a huge 99X patriot, but I find myself wanting to stay up till midnight to see what The Last Song will be, and how their farewell will go. Anyone else?

(There's a definite theme to all these songs, of "goodbye." Kind of crazy...this is the last hour that 99X will be on the air! [EDIT - actually, no it won't, not till 5:30 AM])

When I was flipping through the stations on my drive home tonight, I heard a surprisingly nice clip on 92.9, saluting Leslie Fram and everyone involved with 99X over the years for their huge impact on Atlanta's music and radio scene. It was a really nice gesture.

I understand their ratings have been slipping (I know I personally was flipping there less and less...), but it is still really sad to see it go. Definitely an end of an era. Q100 people keep trying to point out that "99x isn't going away, just changing," but, honestly, internet radio isn't exactly the same as actual radio. At least, I don't have internet in my car... so... I just don't know how well a "visual" internet radio is going to fare. I think it also sucks how everything went down. I'm glad 92.9 did something to recognize her -- I've heard a lot of people happy that she's gone because they found her boring, but I do think she and 99x did a lot for music in our area.

Haven't ever listened to either one so I don't have a pony in this race. But, as I understand 99X will be moving to HD radio. You'd have to have an HD receiver in your car, but their signal will be available as the HD subchannel.

I am too. I've listened to it since it started. Oh well.
As far as I'm concerned it's gone; I have no plans to buy an HD receiver just to get it.

I have been downstairs & not listening to the radio. I know the morning show is not the Q100 morning show, but I assumed that 99X would run until 5:30 AM? (not that I will be up thru most of that!)

It really sucks. Guess I will go back to NPR & CDs.

Oops, yeah--it looks like The Bert Show will air, and after that the new format will begin, starting at 10 AM, which is when the whole Digital Radio thing goes live. But Matt C and Lewis are saying their goodbyes and playing their final tracks. They're putting a positive spin on it, but I guess they have to, right?

I was wondering if they would have DJs on their online deal or what? I mean, they pulled Leslie & Steve off the air, but do the ones that are left have gigs after today? I guess we will see tomorrow! I will probably head over to the website tomorrow to see what is going on, but as many have mentioned, it really doesn't help me in the car..

Okay, fine. I was sort of nonchalant about the thing until this point, but I'll admit it--it makes me a little sad.

Still not as sad as Backstreet closing down, though.

Between this and 92.9 starting a morning show next week, I am very displeased with the state of radio in Atlanta.

Album 88 will be getting all my listening time in the mornings now. And probably most other times, as well.

I think my "goodbye" moment for 99x came this past Sunday when Organic X ended at noon. Matt played a song that talked about being grateful for experiences but having to say goodbye. I listened to 99x for the RetroPlex and Organic X, I'm glad I got to be around for one of those shows ending gracefully.

I kinda liked Leslie, and I definitely thought she knew her shit, and never had the ego to make it the Leslie and Sidekick(s) show like many program directors would done.

I mostly listen to the radio in the morning when I'm getting ready for work. I'm not gonna get HD radio or internet in my bathroom, though. But with CDs I never get things like the weather or upcoming concerts.

I'm definitely going to miss 99X.

Okay, I only listened to 99X in the car every now and then, but what happened, they went off the air? Why? What did I miss?
