Seasonal Beer Question
Hello Atlanta Folk

My wife and I arrived here Labor Day weekend from Boston, and I’ve got a question for you folk. Specifically, a question about Red Ales and where I can find seasonal local brews of such.

In Boston, I was partial to Harpoon Hibernian Ale http://harpoonbrewery.com/index.cfm/page/Hibernian-Ale/pid/28514

Also there is Wachusett Quinn’s Ale
http://www.ratebeer.com/beer/wachusett-quinns-amber-ale/12441/5855/

But finding Boston beer down here is not exactly easy (Sam Adams is no longer limited to Boston).

I’ve developed a taste for Sweet Water and Red Brick ales since my relocation, and I’m wondering if there are any local breweries that you would recommend for a nice Red Ale.

Thanks!

5 Seasons Brewing Company
www.5seasonsbrewing.com

i used to work there before my hubby's job moved us to FL, but i am a walking advertisement for them

the best beer and the best food in town

and if you like Sweet Water, just an FYI, the OWNER of Sweet Water does all his events (like daughter's wedding reception etc) at 5 Seasons

also look at Terrapin, they are techncially based in Athens, but Spike one of the owners also used to brew at 5 Seasons and you can find terrapin all over town.

You might also try the Brick Store Pub in Decatur for a fine selection of various beers.

I know it isn't a "local brewery" but there are restaurants called Taco Mac that have a selection of around 350 different beers. Basically, they are as sports bar theme with Buffalo wings, sandwiches and some Mexican food.
You may want to try there and they might have some Boston seasonal beers. If they don't, they probably can point you in the right direction of good local beers or alternatives that you would like.

I put in another vote for 5 Seasons. There are a couple of locations now with a 3rd opening up later this year.

Terrapin's Big Hoppy Monster is a red ale that's pretty good.

The Atlanta Brewing Co (makers of Red Brick) do a tasting and tour every Friday. http://atlantabrewing.com/

Twains in Decatur has an excellent collection of custom brews which change seasonally, plus an excellent collection of bottled microbrews. http://www.twains.net/
