For those wondering when/if the Tabernacle will be open for shows again -- it was pretty roughed up by the tornado -- here's an update from today's paper:

Tabernacle eyes a May reopening

The Tabernacle, the 98-year-old downtown church-turned-concert venue, is looking at a May reopening after being damaged in the tornado.

Peter Conlon of Live Nation, which operates the Tabernacle, said Friday that the building is structurally sound. The concert hall underwent inspections and tests this week.

Among parts of the building that will have to be replaced are some of the stained-glass windows, which blew out in the tornado. They'll get new ones, Conlon said.

"We want it to be as nice, if not nicer, when we reopen it," he said.

The building suffered damage to the roof and lost several large stained glass windows, plus a lot of smaller windows. And the sign across the front.

Simple economic theory says that when demand goes up, price is supposed to go up; when demand goes down, price goes down.

Apparently that's not true in the City of Atlanta. Because Atlantans have been so effective at water conservation, water rates are being increased to make up for lost revenue.

Only in government does this make logical sense.

Do any of you know of any carnivals or fairs open in or around town currently? There was one in Decatur this past weekend, but it looks like they were closing up shop when I drove by this morning. I've not been to a carnival in years and I'd love to go again, even to one of the little ones that you sometimes see pop up around the area.

Ok I moved to Atlanta a little over a week ago and I am have been trying to find employment in the area. I have contacted a bunch of people with no luck so far. Rent and car payments are due soon (on top of other bills) so I really need to find something. Does anyone have any leads or can offer any help? I am in the Chamblee area and I am right off 85. Something near by would be preferable due to gas prices. Any help is appreciated! Thanks!

EDIT: Ok I am a photographer by trade, I have two associates degrees in photography, I am pretty computer literate and I am familiar with mac and pc opporating systems. I have been making contacts in the photography industry but it is a hard industry to get into so therefor I am looking for other work for now. I have worked retail/sales for years but would like to avoid that if possible. I have experience working in a coffee shop and actually wouldnt mind getting back into one. Preferably a independent company but at the moment starbucks is looking tolerable. Something in data entry, clerical, call centers, whatever would be fine. Something that is tattoo and piercing friendly would be great but I can cover/remove them if necessary as well.
