Dark Room Productions, in conjunction with the Kennesaw State University Underground Theatre and Film Movement, the talent behind the recent hit play Painted, is casting a lead actor (age 18 – 22) to play the role of Cameron in its upcoming film, Leapfrog, a short narrative feature by Sara Crawford and directed by Michael Tillman.
Auditions will be held Thursday, March 27th from 6:30 pm – 9:30 pm, and Friday, March 28th from 1 pm – 5 pm, on the campus of Kennesaw State University. Filming will begin in late May, and is anticipated to continue into late June, with a wrap hopefully no later than Sunday, July 6th. Production will be mostly on weekends in and around Atlanta, and rehearsals will be every Sunday on location, during the month of April. Exact dates will be given at the audition.
Leapfrog is a film that focuses on the character of Cameron, an 18-year-old "boy" who has just graduated high school and doesn't think too much about what he wants to do with the rest of his life. After ditching a job interview that his Dad sets up for him to go eat an ice cream cone, he is reunited with an old childhood friend, Lacey. The film follows Lacey and Cameron as they spend the day together swinging on the playground, driving around, and playing leapfrog like they used to. But when Lacey takes Cameron to a "grown up" party, he feels completely awkward and out of place.
Cameron is very childish and doesn't want to grow up. The world is too much for him. Everything moves too fast. He is a very quiet and subtly emotional person, who has trouble taking everything in at once and struggles with keeping his feelings in check in front of the rest of the world.
Interested actors should send a headshot and resume to Michael Tillman at LeapfrogMovie@gmail.com. We will then set up a time that works for you to come out and audition. Actor will be given a free copy of the completed project, be compensated for gas and food, and offered a small stipend.
Thank you.
