So, do any of you remember this video, where the people freeze in Grand Central Station for five minutes? Well, here in Atlanta, from 1815-1820 we did just that at Atlantic Station. I was joined by my friends
fwod and
garybaldy, and let me tell you all this, it was one of the most bad ass things I have ever had the chance to do.
Thanks to a traffic we did not get there in time for the briefing at 6, but we were quickly filled in, and began wandering around the place.
garybaldy wandered around (he and I were both in kilts) prepping to light a cigarette, so when the time came he stood there mid-step about to light one.
fwod and I stood near the steak restaurant in the courtyard (where most everyone was) and I began to make silly jokes and stories when the time came, so he stopped facing the ground with a quirky smile while I was left staring off into the distance. From that position I was able to see most of what was going on around me.
It took about two minutes for the crowd to really catch on, as there were about 80 of us, all frozen in time. Some took pictures, others prodded to see if we would move. One person even jumped up on top of a block and yelled out, "Hello, Atlantic Station!" in a futile attempt to sway us. But no, we were dead set in our ways. No really, we were frozen and couldn't move. When the time expired, and we were free to move, everyone continued right where they left off and began moving. The waitstaff from the steak place had come out to their patio and were right next to
fwod and I. They told us how awesome we were, but we walked on our merry way as if nothing happened. Everyone in the area applauded us.
Mission accomplished. We had a post meet up, and declared it a success and departed. There was lots of video shot, and I am sure it will be online very soon. So, keep your eyes out for the next Happening by checking out this link! Anyone else that was there want to post their story?
