Allergies, anyone?

Hey, I was wondering if any allergy sufferers out there are starting to have symptoms. A couple of weeks ago, I had this really evil cold that's going around my office, and the symptoms never quite ended, but now I'm getting congested and a little, uh, throaty again.

Is the cold even more evil than I knew, or is pollen season getting underway already?

Court reporting?

Does anyone know anything about court reporting... hours involved, pay, job opportunities, do you know anyone who does it and loves/hates it, any places around Atlanta that offer solid training/certification programs?

Just curious. Danke!

tokidoki

Where in Atlanta, besides the Urban Outfitters in Lenox, can I get a tokidoki for lesportsac bag? I'm interested in other tokidoki items, but the bags specifically. Thanks!

Trader Joe's: Not all that?

I haven't been by Midtown Promenade in a few weeks, so I'm not aware if the new Midtown Trader Joe's has opened up yet, but I went to the one in Sandy Springs, on Roswell Rd a few weeks ago, really excited in my anticipation of finally going to... TRADER JOE'S (!!), the store everyone's been talking about, and I kind of thought it was... not all that, i.e. not so much, not great, no big deal, etc.

It was small, and there were only a few aisles, and it was mostly prepared foods (aside from a bit of produce, and a large wine section), jars of this and that, and a frozen foods section that was kind of tight on space. Lots of people all sort of banging into each other and not saying, "Pardon", or "Excuse me", but rather reaching across one another in a rude and annoying way. Maybe the rudeness of the patrons colored my overall impression, and admittedly I did buy a couple of Trader Joe's trademarked prepared foods, and they were tasty enough, but really? I just don't get it. Whole Foods is far superior, especially the one on Ponce across from Ford Factory Square.

Am I missing something, or is Trader Joe's sort of overrated? Thoughts? Opinions?

Traffic nightmare on Saturday

From the AJC:

Anyone headed Saturday to an array of events in Midtown, downtown Atlanta and Buckhead should prepare for potential traffic delays.

More than 160,000 people are expected to attend events that start at 6 a.m. and end close to midnight, according to the Atlanta Police Department's Web page of events. Most of them likely will drive, as opposed to arriving on MARTA or another transit operator.

An event headlined by Donald Trump at the Georgia World Congress Center marks the return of a real estate expo whose attendees contributed to gridlock in downtown Atlanta Jan. 25. It's expected to attract 20,000 persons from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m.

An oyster festival in Buckhead, at Steamhouse Lounge, is expected to attract 8,000 people to an area that typically is stop-and-go on Saturday afternoons. Construction on Piedmont Road that has caused extreme delays is expected to be finished by 5 p.m. Friday, according to Janet Ward, spokeswoman for Atlanta's Department of Watershed Management.

A motorcross show at the congress center, Supercross, is expected to attract 65,000 for an event that begins at 7 p.m. That's the same an expected sell-out crowd expected at Philips Arena for the Thrashers/Hurricanes hockey game.

In Midtown, the Fox Theatre has performances of Spamalot set for 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. And just south of the Fox, the Atlanta Civic Center has the Atlanta Blues Festival starting at 8 p.m.

I actually don't think it will be that bad except on roads near the venues. The problem with the last time Trump and his merry band of success seminarians came to town was that it was on a weekday when there was the already horrible rush hour to contend with. Even the smallest traffic increase or accident screws things up on a weekday.
