Speed Trap

We were the last car in a group traveling at 78 mph on the interstate last night, passing through Hogansville when the town police pulled us over for speeding. We were picked off for being last in the line---the antelope with a limp mowed down by the jackal. More than that we were a plump white couple in a newish silver Volvo---perhaps in a case of reverse profiling---we were chosen because we were the least likely, the officer might have thought, to place him in danger.

HOGANSVILLE IS A SPEED TRAP. I have not had a ticket in 25 years. I do often speed, yet I always do so safely and wisely, running amidst the pack of other cars on the road, most of which are going faster than I am. YOU KNOW it's a trap when the city of Hogansville has kindly set up a website so I can pay the Troll's demand for passage online.

I don't mind so much subsidizing the little town---it was my turn; I just hate I screwed my flawless driving record.

Edit: 50 comments and lots of name calling, this got so much out of hand I changed the title (but left the regretable text). Editing late in the game is likely bad form in LJ land, but nothing compared to the juvenile digression of the comments. Give it a rest. I apologize for the reverse profiling comment.

For those as nerdy as me

There is a rocket launch next weekend just north of Atlanta. Even if you don't have a rocket to shoot these are a LOT of fun! bring a chair, a lunch and your camera you will have a great time! The group I normally launch with is SoAR - Southern Area Rocketry, we are part of the National Association of Rocketry.

Unfortunately the field we are launching from isn't large enough to push anything bigger than able a G engine. Last meeting I launched my 2 stage rocket "Bob's BBQ" 4 times with 4 successful recoveries. I only had some slight damage to the first stage upon "landing"

here is the info:

The launch will be behind Mill Springs Academy: http://www.soar571.com/directions/directions_millsprings.asp
From 10 til 2 on Saturday February the 24th

this is a video I made from our last launch: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DP5O-CykTmg

For sale

I'm in the Marietta area and I have an old upright piano for sale. It hasn't been tuned in a while and you'd have to come get it but I'd really like for it to have a good home. If anyone's interested, I can give you more details; just email. I'd like $200 for it or best offer. Thanks!

Mason Jars

Does anyone know where I can buy a few mason jars with metal lids, just two or three by themselves?

Also, where they can be gotten in bulk.

The second question is more for later than now.

x-posted.

FlexCar in Atlanta

Are you interested in the idea of a vehicle (car, SUV, truck) that you could use when you needed it, and just pay for the time you used it, that was conveniently available to you?

For commuting, for errands, for the times when you needed a larger vehicle, to avoid owning a second car, etc.?

I would love to see FlexCar come to Little Five Points.

What areas do you think could benefit from this program?

Find out more at http://www.FlexCar.com

And comment with your thoughts.

Can anyone tell me something reassuring about the Cobb Emergency Vet at Hwy 41/Allgood Rd?

My husband is on his way there with one of our kittens, and I'm quite worried about having to take her somewhere other than my usual trusted vet. Is this place at least competent?
