WANTED: A BAND!

I'm throwing a 50th Wedding Anniversary party for my Grandparents and I've got most of the details worked out. My next hurdle is to find a band, so I figured what better place to look than here, eh? Below is a list of specifications that the band must be able to meet:

WHO:
You!

WHAT:
The 50th Wedding Anniversary Party of Chris and Loretta. We're looking for a band to play between 3 and 4 hours worth of 50's, 60's and 70's music. Some suggestions include the following:

50's: "Peppermint Twist", "I Only Have Eyes for You", "Kansas City", "Be-Bop-A-Lula",
60's: "96 Tears", " Baby I Need Your Lovin'", "Bad Moon Rising", "Born To Be Wild"
70's: "I'd Like To Teach The World To Sing (In Perfect Harmony)", "(Shake, Shake, Shake) Shake Your Booty", "Give Me Just A Little More Time"
Bands: The Beatles, KC and the Sunshine Band,

It is REQUIRED that the band play their song, "Misty" by Johnny Mathis. The lyrics can be found here: http://www.stlyrics.com/lyrics/x-filesepisodes/misty.htm

Although we fully understand the desire for bands to be original by remaking songs or singing their own, it's our preference that the songlist stays on the type of music listed above and that the songs don't vary too much from their original recordings.

Dress is casual/business casual, but please leave your butt-less jeans at home :)

WHEN:
The party will be on Saturday night, February 24th, 2007 and we want the band to BEGIN PLAYING at 7:30pm. You may arrive as far in advance as you like to set up, and you may tune up, etc BEFORE the party begins (at 7pm), but we request the actual music doesn't start into full swing until 7:30pm.

WHERE
The Clubhouse at The Plantation Resort in Villa Rica, Georgia.

We are willing to pay $100/hr to the band. We do have a budget on what we can spend on this particular portion of the party, so this is a firm offer.

Please respond as soon as possible. Before choosing a band, we need to be able to hear a demo of what you can do. If you're going to post your website or myspace, please link me DIRECTLY to the demo so I don't have to search around for it. I'm also planning my best friend's wedding and a baby shower, so I don't have time to sift through a website to find things. If you have a demo of something similar to what we're looking for, that would be especially helpful. You can send any files to stephaniewallace@gmail.com If you leave a comment here or send me an email, please include the following information:

Band's Name
How I can get in touch with you
Comments/thoughts on what's been said above
Link to website/myspace/livejournal and/or demo
any other pertinent information that you think is necessary

I look forward to hearing from you guys and I can't wait to see what bands step up! We will be booking the band by February 1st, so please respond as quickly as possible!! Thanks!

Keep talking there Sonny...

"Knowledge is the new economic fuel, not physical labor.  It is the essential ingredient for success in this information age."

- Governor Sonny Perdue

Gee, despite the federal government giving corporate handouts in the form of tax incentives for outsourcing IT jobs overseas, our own enlightened governor believes young people should overlook that fact (and the continued flood of IT jobs sent down the river) and pursue an IT education.

How stupid does Perdue think young people are these days?
