Restaurant Review & Request... "Favorite Holes in the Wall"
I'm always dying to try new places to eat, but am often too afraid of spending my hard-earned money on a whim in a place where the food isn't guaranteed to be as good as the half-dozen other choices I might have.
When I go to a different city, I'm always interested in trying out the local fare. It doesn't have to be food appropriate for the geography, mind you. I'm not saying that when I go to Chicago, I am only looking for the best "Chicago-style" pizza (although that's good too.)
I'm talking about those little, out of the way, holes in the wall that the locals know about. You might have to know someone to hear about this place, but if you end up there, you're getting something unique, special. Atlanta is a great city, so there must be places that I haven't heard of where the food will blow your mind.
That's how I feel about this place. My friend works there, so I got roped into trying the place out one night because she asked me to go with her.
Talk about awesome food! Authentic "Latin American / Caribbean" cuisine. You will not find burritos or jerk chicken here, though! Ever heard of a calabaza squash? I hadn't either, until I tried theirs. Out of this world... Everything you will put in your mouth is a treat.
Don't make the mistake of not leaving room for dessert, however... The TRES LECHES is to DIE for. But, I don't think you could go wrong with anything on the menu.
If you haven't been... GO! They change their menu all the time, and the price is reasonable for the flavor, charm, and ambiance.
Ok, now that I've shared a RAVE for a Midtown Atlanta favorite of mine... Please share a favorite local place of yours. Names, location, type of food? Price? I'm ready to get out and explore!
