This weeks has been a sort of minor scandal for the Atlanta Symphony, and in many ways, no one could be blamed. On Thrusday, the long awaited Wagner evening found Atlanta welcoming for the first time the woman that has been hailed as the formost Wagnerian soprano of our generation: JANE EAGLEN. The program of Wagner highlights promised :
Overture and Venusburg music (Tannhauser)
Overture for Tristan und Isolde
Liebestod from Tristan und Isolde (Jane Eaglen, soprano)
Ride of the Valkyries (Die Walkure)
Dawn and Siegfried's journey through the Rhine (Gotterdamerung)
Siegfried Funeral music (Gotterdamerung)
Immolation Scene (Jane Eaglen, soprano)
