The lowdown

[info]roxybritain
Swisher is on the new cover of A's mag. The He Said, She Said feature has Crosby/Gina and says that Adam Melhuse is his roommate. And a short feature on Blanton says that he (still) lives with Street, Harden, and Swisher.

Just thought I'd let ya know ;)

Contractor Sues A's Ace Barry Zito Over WeHo Home

[info]oakchick75
(AP) LOS ANGELES A contractor has sued Barry Zito, claiming the Oakland Athletics pitcher owes more than $200,000 for remodeling work on his West Hollywood home.

Ramland Construction claims Zito breached the written deal theyhad when the pitcher allegedly stopped payments in February on the original bill of $563,000.

The work included $27,000 for new kitchen cabinets, a $20,000 Koi fish pond, $12,000 dollars in new kitchen appliances, a $10,000 aquarium, $7,100 for an aquarium enclosure and $4,200 for a fire pit.

An attorney for the contractor says he will try to have the case sent to arbitration.

Zito won the AL Cy Young Award in 2002. This season, he has a 8-3 record with a 3.36 ERA.

Barry Zito Demands Trade To World Without War

April 20, 2006 | Issue 42•16

OAKLAND, CA—With the A's exploring the possibility of moving their soon-to-be free-agent pitcher Barry Zito, and with everything around him only getting more violent and chaotic with each passing day, the introspective southpaw demanded Tuesday that he be traded to a world unaffected by "the ravages humanity has brought upon itself." "My client is seeking a fresh start for himself and/or mankind, as he can no longer enjoy pitching in a universe where people are suffering, starving—even dying—all around him," Zito's agent Arn Tellem said. "Barry informs me that the only viable solution to both senseless worldwide bloodshed and the problem with his pitching mechanics is simply to live every day with love." Zito has reportedly said that, if he absolutely must remain on this Earth, he demands a trade through the halls of time itself, as he has narrowed down his list of potential trade destinations to the 1924 Chicago Cubs, the 1969 Baltimore Orioles, and the present-day Yankees.

The Bobblehead Curse?

[info]roxybritain
http://www.amfmpodcast.com/PodCast/KNBR/KNBR100/KNBR_hustonstreet_041806.mp3

----

Are you aware of the bobblehead curse in Oakland, Huston?

... I'm not aware of it, but I don't really want to know about it...

Come on, you gotta know about it! Mark Kotsay Bobblehead Doll Day, one of the most underrated centerfielders in the game - two errors on his bobblehead day. Bobby Crosby, I believe - either Crosby or Harden - on the DL on their bobblehead doll day. They need to start giving bobbleheads out in Oakland of the opposing teams' players!

... It sounds like it. I mean... [pause] that's a bad little run there.

Who's next? Nick Swisher's next, I believe. Don't play him that day!

Hopefully Swisher breaks that and has, like, four homers, and we can forget about the bobblehead curse.

----

Were you born when Elvis was around?

Uhhhh... I think I might've been. I'm not sure. I was born in 83, so... I'm not sure when Elvis died.

Oh geez. I was a freshman in high school in 83.

[Laughs]... I'm sorry. [Laughs]

----

:)

In case you didn't catch it, Street says he's living with Swisher and Blanton this year. Hmm... where are Crosby and Harden living?
