Just because I can, and I'm really falling asleep at work, I wanted to call people's attention to the ATC Wiki which has been resurrected once again, and to which we're trying to add templates and the like for easy addition of information. Feel free to make an account and dork around with learning formatting and the like if you've any interest at all.

Um, yeah, been a while, but if you still read this, I'm planning on trying to run next Wednesday, barring stupidity.

We ARE playing this Wednesday, January 5th.

Be there, or be in danger of wantonly doing the cancan and performing acts of sexual debauchery on one another. And not getting CP for it.

Yeah, uh.

I woke up this morning to a dead cable modem. There's not a chance in hell it's going to be fixed by Wednesday, so, once again, the game is off.

I somehow doubt we're going to be running on the 22nd (next Wednesday) what with it being so close to Xmas and all. The 29th we're definitely not running because I'll be driving back to Terre Haute that day.

Which means the next time we can possibly run is January 5th.
I really hope everyone can make that date, because I would love to get through with this universe and on to the next. So clear your calendars.

No session next Wednesday, either. It's our season break, or something.

We're running week after next, though, and not a bit of an exception is to be heard!

Yeah. Todd night not have internet access, I will likely be scrambling to finish my packing, and it just won't be a nice night to hold a session.

So work on spending those CP and SP and have the sheets for me by next week. or I'll hurt you badly!
Or not, but I might yell.

Have another nice week off and get ready for an awesome session.

12:21 am - Game for 4/14/04 is OFF
I am tired and need a week off, really.

So there's no ATC2 tomorrow, this Wednesday.
We'll resume next week, I think, and hopefully my moving will involve no interruption in the game.

ATC ANNOUNCES PRELIMINARY FTL SYSTEM TESTING TO BEGIN

In the company's biggest flurry of excited press releases since the unveiling of the first TSM module, ATC CEO R. Levinworth announced today that the company has begun an intensive testing regime of a Faster-Than-Light (FTL) system which has been constructed, in secrecy, past the orbit of Ganesh. Claiming leaps and bounds over the efficiency of both the "d-shift" or "bodyslide" techniques, as well as the ability to travel anywhere in the universe without having previously been there, the new FTL system has been developed under the code name "Mole", although it does not, as of yet, have an official name.

While refusing to release any technical specifications, Levinworth did admit the system works using a special breed of wormhole known as "interstices", which are a widely-accepted stellar phenomenon. The official press release cites "minimal potential damage to ship and crew", as well as "over a 10,000% decrease in power requirements". It does not appear that the system will take any more travel time than either of the two existing systems of FTL travel. In addition, Levinworth claims the interstices will allow for easy and cheap FTL communications, as well, something previously out of technological reach.

The release claims the communications devices should be reaching the market by late 2091, and the FTL system no later than 2099, due to the increased safety concerns with a product of this magnitude.

Streak of Random Insanity Continues

The strange attacks that have left countless dead and even more as vegetables continue to come, as random as they are deadly. The latest casualty in this strange epidemic is a four year old boy from New Orleans, Earth, who slaughtered his whole family before collapsing in a corner. Medical testing later revealed his alpha wave level to be nominal, and the boy was declared legally braindead shortly after arrival at the hospital.

"No traces of drugs were in his system at all, whatever those monsters in Twilight City might claim," exhorted chief medical examiner Barnaby Wallace. "There appears to be no physical reason for this tragedy, just as with the others." Even the slowest processor can detect the emerging pattern, however - the disease, or drug, or whatever the cause of this epidemic may be, only affects people with Spontaneous Chromosome Addition (SCA).

"Our current hypothesis is that there is sme critical nutrient that the afflicted were not recieving in the correct dosages," continued Wallace. However, an anonymous spokesperson for the Pure Galaxy Society (PGS) had a differing opinion - "This is the inevitable consequence of Ups Syndrome! The mutation should have been stamped out as soon as it happened! Only the Normals are safe now!" The PGS has released a 5,000-page manifesto concerning SCA and its effects on the solar system... Seen and Heard Across The Solar System

Seen - In a shocking display of corporate expenditure, ATC CEO R. Levinworth jetted from her press release in Red Atlanta to RNYC in what must have been record time, and vanished into the police headquarters there, emerging minutes later with two attractive young ladies! What on earth would prompt Levinworth to bail out two unassuming ruffians such as this? Trust us, dear reader, to get you the news on this steamy development... (more)

Heard - Word out on the streets is that DunnoCorp is searching for someone or something, and they're getting increasingly keen on getting it back. While nothing official's been announced, groups of Dunno-uniformed armed men have been seen patrolling streets in Red Sweden, though they appear to have moved into surrounding countries, much to the irritation of said surrounding countries... We're going to try this before each new "day" in ATC2. I'm thinking it might be useful to let you know a little of what's going on in the world some time before immediately prior to the session, so you can think about it or even maybe work it into conversation *gasp*!

PLAZA DISASTER SPARKS CITYWIDE BLACKOUT

The massive blackout of the entire city power grid that happened yesterday evening is still unexplained, according to City Councilman Ray Parmer, but voiced suspicions that the blackout and the apparent gang war which occurred on the Plaza just before the loss of power were "not simultaneous events by mere chance". The Power Commission has released that the blackout itself was caused by a simultaneous failure of every circuit breaker in the main power conduits, including the backup circuits, but are being evasive as to the cause of the breaker failure.

Individual power grid backups such as hospitals and the bank security systems were mysteriously unaffected.

The RNYPD admitted they think the entire event was organized in order to assassinate Guy Vanhooser, the son of DunnoCorp CEO Jorge Vanhooser. Guy was shopping on the Plaza at the time of the disaster, but was escorted to safety by his personal security. The RNYPD puts the death toll at 47, which includes three RNYC citizens, and 44 suspected gang members. Of the gang members, 26 died at the scene, ten died elsewhere in the city, and eight killed themselves with a fast-acting poison in the course of being apprehended by police. The RNYPD press advisor, Curtis Elbert, assured NewsNet that the police were doing everything they could to get to the bottom of this mystery.

Noted NetGuru Neil Wilkinson has publicly come forward with clues that indicate a specifically tailored virus might be behind the failure ... (more)

New Holden Opera House Plans Selected

In the wake of the fire which destroyed the Holden Opera House on September 10th, Clinton Avenue has had a horrible blank spot where once a building of majesty and beauty stood. Today, the City Council agreed on plans for the new Holden Opera House, based on a wide variety of criteria including use of space, landscaping, and the abiliuty to blend into the general facade of Clinton Ave.

Architect Earnestine Crowley assured the Council that as soon as they approve the building's 10cr million budget, she will begin hiring contractors. "The loss of that magnificent building was a devestating blow to the culture and reputation that this city has worked so hard to achieve. I can only thank God that nothing was damaged in last night's debacle..." (more)

Seen and Heard Across The Solar System

Seen - ATC CEO R. Levinworth spent the evening in the company of her top R&D officials, obviously celebrating something, as they dined at the ritzy Chez Ruffles' Mexi-Mongolian Steak Haus. This reporter could not get close enough to hear the conversation, and anxiously awaits the official ATC press release... (more)

Heard - The buzz in Twilight City has it that a new drug is responsible for the recent rash of violent insanity - this reporter heard it called "Tweak", "Spaz", "Twitch", and "Loopy". However, he was unable to find anyone who has sampled said drug... (more)

10:59 pm - Update on the World
Some notes on the situation and what happens the next day...

The next morning it was all over the NewsNets, obviously. They found the rest of the bounty hunters dead, single shots through the temple. They also managed to "capture" all the Concordat forces, insomuch that they got close, grabbed them, and they used a poison hidden in their teeth.
They IDed the Concordat people via cameras with backup power, and also they caught them walking into the Plaza.

So in essence, the threat's now over except Kat and Vera have been hauled down to the RNYPD station for questioning and very likely an arrest. Hope they use their one phone call to get a hold of Ronnie.

I might not be here next Wednesday - we'll see how things go in Omaha, etc, and then I'll post again later.

I might be late for tonight's session; I've got a presentation to attend at school. It starts at 8:00. I don't know how long it will run; maybe it'll only be an hour, and I won't be late at all, but just in case, I figured I'd better post something.

Sharyna - um, if you want to reschedule that mini you should really tell me if you CAN. Or have stuck around to tell me.
Monday and Tuesday are the options, and I'd really rather run it now though maybe I could split you two off from the main session if absolutely necessary. It seems that it needs to be run one way or the other, as it's a fairly important session.

So. Get back in touch.

Okay. So we sorta figured that Kat, maybe Vera, Deme and Roch might go observing. But Shar needs scheduling. So here is the post.

As for me, I can play basically any night after 6 or so pretty much all of the weekends. Friday might be a bad day for me. Monday at 9 and after is AOC, so that's probably not a good idea. Any other time, sure. So people who are interested, post times and Cham can hash it out!

Cham must post too! So we can play! Gogogogogogogo!

Okay, folks. First off, we got new charart of Rochelle, once again by Maha. Shiny!

Secondly. DST is over, and this presents some issues. I live in Indiana, and Indiana is stupid. We don't do DST. So, now, I am on Eastern time, where once I was on Central. This means we can no longer run until 1 AM Central time, because that is Very Early for me and that's bad. But we cannot start an hour earlier due to player commitments. So.

We will run from 9:30 CST to 12:00 CST or 10:30 EST to 1:00 EST. This means show up at the same time as usual.

This also means don't complain about short. *glare*
