Story to be published
Some weeks ago, the members of this group helped me out with the astronomy and physics for a short story I was writing.

I'm pleased to tell you all that the story, "Calibration," has been accepted for publication by, of all things, Nature Physics, in their "Futures" fiction feature.  Expect to see it next summer, if you have access to that journal.

My thanks, once again, to all of you.

Congratulations! I'm looking forward to reading your story in Nature Physics then. Write a post here to remind us about it when it's published, will you? :-)

Now I'll only have to work on getting a paper of my own accepted in Nature Physics... ;-)

Thanks! I'll confess that, among my academic colleagues, I have occasionally given in to my mischievous side and said, "Oh yes, I'm being published in Nature," and left it at that. Too good an opportunity to pass up...

Congratulations.

And that is very funny. You should show them the story when it comes out and watch their faces.

Yay! Do you have a bit of teaser/trailer info about the story?

Not sure how much I can say without ticking off the publisher. Here's the basic premise: Astronomer begins using electronic tracking device on her teenage daughter at the same time her team observes what appears to be a signal from 22 megaparsecs away. The title of the story refers both to the tracking device and the signal...

Awesome, and congrats.

Would you post about it when it's released, so those of us who don't read Nature Physics regularly can try and scare up a copy?

peace,
