Galaxy Zoo Merger Checking
Galaxy Zoo has started a new project, checking images for potential mergers. This is a quick project following on from the large scale analysis and bias testing of the original zoo, and before the new detailed analysis of Galaxy Zoo 2 which will follow eventually.

I have produced a new website to handle this activity, it's not as pretty as the original zoo, but it was produced very quickly to meet the needs of this project.

Hmmm. Interesting definition of "merger". I assume that you're looking for mergers in process rather than completed ones?

It is simply an exercise to analyse images that may or not be merging and separate them into Merging/Not Merging - If there is any evidence that the merger is still in progress then it should be called a merger. A couple of cases have been identified of galaxy pairs that are interacting and yet are not merging - these have proved particularly interesting to the researchers.
