 hello crafters!!!

come out tomorrow night to Freeze Peach for another night of ACK!

the weather is finally feeling like spring, and we are all turning to cooling down a little bit. i'm sure tomorrow will be warm enough and everyone will want to have an iced drink! Freeze Peach Iced drinks are the best! try a hibiscus ginger, iced hot chocolate, or an iced coffee! or anything else on the Freeze Peach Menu-- it's all fabulous!!

and dont forget to bring your latest work in progress or show off a project you have completed!

we had a great turn out last week for charity crafting, it would be great to have a good turn out again tomorrow night!

Rosemary
hello ACK!

tonight is a special night of ACK! tonight will be Charity Crafting night. bring along a project you are working on for charity, or bring enough yarn to make squares for Project Linus ( www.projectlinus.org ), ACK has decided to make squares for Project Linus, an organization that donates blankets to children and adolescents in crisis. this is a great organization, so be sure to help them out by making a square or two!

as always, we will be meeting at Freeze Peach ( www.freezepeach.org ), the venue that has been supporting us for the past 4 years! Freeze Peach has an excellent selection of hand brewed teas, coffees, and other fabulous drinks such as Hot Chocolate. and, since it's nice out, get your drink iced! sooo good!

hope to see everyone tonight for charity crafting at Freeze Peach at about 8pm ish.

here's a pic of a square that Burt recently gave me for charity crafting:

hello everyone,

i'm sorry to bother you all. many of you have come to our group at Freeze Peach. we all know how important this little local cafe is to our community and our group.

Freeze Peach needs everyone's support right now.
please read this thread:

if you feel inclined, please go down and give your support in whatever way you can. it will be
appreciated this week!

see you all on thursday!

it's ACK TIME!!! join us tomorrow, Thursday, April 3, 2008 at about 8pm ish at Freeze Peach (www.freezepeach.org) for crafting! bring along your latest project, or any recent projects you have finished that you wanted to show off!

as always, be sure to purchase something from our venue who has been housing our group for the past 4 years... they have the BEST hand brewed tea and coffee in Astoria, plus they have local hand made snacks too! the hot chocolate isnt bad either! (after walking back home tonight, i could use some Freeze Peach hot chocolate!!)

hope to see you all tomorrow!
hello crafters!

tomorrow night is ACK!! join us tomorrow, Thursday, March 27, 2008 at about 8pm ish at Freeze Peach (www.freezepeach.org) dont forget to order some hand-brewed tea, coffee, or delicious hot chocolate and / or a snack at Freeze Peach! Freeze Peach has been such a great venue for our group for the past 4 years!

last week was a success! thanks to everyone who came out to join us, contributed yarn, made squares, and thanks to tracie who helped with the donation of yarn!

so this was our first event like this in a while. if anyone has any feedback, comments, suggestions, etc, about our event last week, please let me know by emailing me or speaking with me tomorrow at group. it would be great to do swaps-- but i think we should wait at least 3 mos for another one...what does everyone else think? making squares for Project Linus
will happen every 3rd Thursday of every month if there is not a holiday. so this will be great. once we accumulate enough squares, we will begin working on putting together a blanket. exciting!

during group last week, someone mentioned having a knit out in Astoria Park. i think that's a great idea, and we should do it in June or so. what else does everyone think? should be fun!

as always, we can continue to talk about this together while at the Freeze Peach, and if anyone has any new ideas to contribute, by all means, let us know and we can bounce around ideas!

see you all tomorrow!

Spring 2008 got off to a GREAT Start!

  • Mar. 22nd, 2008 at 6:54 AM

holy crap!!! look at all that yarn! everyone brought yarn for the Yarn Swap, which i thought was a great success! thanks to everyone for participating and bringing in yarn to swap! thanks to Tracie for lugging all the leftover yarn back. we will be donating (hopefully) to a senior group learning to knit or crochet in the Queens Area. i think the swap went well, and we should do this again in a couple of months....

also, the Charity Crafting went very well! we are working on squares and / or blankets for Project Linus. (www.projectlinus.org).

so hope to see you all next week! we will definitely be doing charity crafting on a monthly basis-- the 3rd Thursday of every month, if there is not a holiday.

send me a private message if you wish to be added to the email list!

bonus!

hello crafters!

Freeze Peach has been so great to us... so if you join us, please purchase something from the cafe-- they
have excellent hand brewed teas, coffees, hot chocolate, steamers, and local made snacks! Freeze
Peach and ACK have this awesome symbiotic relationship--- they allow us to have our fun crafting
nights every week, and Freeze Peach gains more business from  having us there every week... so
support this local business in your community!

hello crafters!!

it's time for ACK!!! please join us this evening at Freeze Peach (www.freezepeach.org) at about 8pm ish for a relaxing night of crafting!

it's getting colder out... that means it's perfect weather to work with some wool or wool blends and work on a large project that you can just sit on your lap to keep you warm. or not. :) but it would definitely be a good time to get some Freeze Peach Hot chocolate and snuggle up with your latest unfinished project...

there's a smiley's sale going on right now.. some good stuff on sale. ends on november 12, 2007 so get on down there to check it out!

i've received messages from 2 other ACK members who wish to be part of the ACK table at the Craft Fair at Waltz. i think that will be my limit for this event. if you are interested in getting a table, let me know and i will forward you the informational email on where to send the money, etc.

otherwise, if you are not selling, then you are going to the fair to check out the awesome stuff that Astoria Crafters make!

see you later tonight!

*this is an 18+ event. :)

hello crafters!!!

it's time to meet for ACK again!

join us tomorrow, Thursday October 11, 2007 at about 8pm ish at Freeze Peach (www.freezepeach.org) for
another evening of crafting!

feel free to bring your current work in progress, or anything that you have finished recently-- we'd love
to check it out!

and be sure to post anything you'd love to show off and brag about on our blog :)

also-- i've updated the blog with our pumpkin picking extravaganza at the queens farm.

so, we were thinking-- let's carve pumpkins on October 21st, 2007 at my place-- time to be announced. if you
would like to attend, please respond so that i can notify you all of more details (such as my address)
and what to bring with you, etc.

if you did not pick pumpkins with us, you can still carve pumpkins with us! just pick your own pumpkin at
your favorite pumpkin patch, or a local supermarket  (i've seen a lot of nice pumpkins around....)

also, someone posted on our blog about an event that will be going on this weekend where you can pick
pumpkins:

"I am on the board of the Sunnyside Gardens Park located at 48-21 39th Avenue - just up from the Old
Navy and Toys R Us on Northern Blvd. We are a historical landmark 3 acre usually private member run
park. On Saturday 10/13 from noon until dark, we are turning the park into a PUMPKIN PATCH and hold an
Oktoberfest. We are open to the public this day and welcome all. This is a great family day and we will
have hundreds of pumpkins and plenty of fresh air. We're also having greenmarket vendors and arts and
crafts for the children. Pumpkin painting is free if you buy from the patch. I hope to meet plenty of my Astoria neighbors! "

If you would like to be put on the mailing list, please private message me with your email. thanks!*
