Fannish Sims Photoshoot: Mistletoe

  • Dec. 30th, 2008 at 11:54 PM
Just for the heck of it, I made quickie versions of Emishi and Amon from the GetBackers manga and took some pretty pictures of them playing with the Maxis mistletoe object (in homage to a scene from old roleplay with [info]mullenkamp). 13 very large pictures of boys kissing (or about to kiss, mostly) and one bonus cuddle on the couch under the cut; please excuse the fact that I remodeled the apartment in the middle of the photoshoot, if you can tell. (Probably not since the pictures weren't even taken in sequence.)

Incidentally, I'm not necessarily planning to use screencaps (as opposed to in-game shots) in general for my Sims stuff, and certainly don't plan to use giant ones at full-size like this all the time, I just wanted to have big pretty pictures in this case because I love the characters.

Also, video of same, only less drawn-out and sappy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HXWc875n8fg

Strangetown Musings

  • Dec. 19th, 2008 at 11:33 PM
I am still UP TO MY EARS in content management, since deleting crap got sidetracked by a) tendonitis and b) making crap instead (among other things, my own default skintones, from HP's high quality source BMPs for Idolatry of Flesh and a wholelot of facial detail makeup), but I am also working on hammering some of my plot ideas and concepts into shape. Some of them I may even post about later despite spoilers, but what I'm musing over at the moment is the terrain.

I don't like the Strangetown terrain very much. It hasn't got a whole lot of room, and some of it is up on annoying little hills. So I'd like to use a different ones. The question is, do I want to...

a) add the terrain of my choice as a downtown or a shopping district and leave the original as-is?
b) make a new neighborhood from scratch with a terrain I like and either move everyone onto one lot and migrate them, or create them from scratch in CAS?
c) learn how to use the terrain surgery technique?

I suspect I'll end up going with option A, because it's simplest, although option B has some appeal due to the ability to more easily do some backstory stuff and actually incorporate it into the characters' memories, and because it'd be easier to tweak Vidcund's stupid protruding brow so the nerd glasses I want him to wear aren't impaling his face. But I can always do backstory stuff in other ways, and use SimSurgery on Vidcund to fix the brow issues. (Normally I'd leave him alone, but I really want the nerdy glasses, and otherwise they are sticking through his head.) Terrain surgery would be handy, though... just don't know if I can be bothered to do it.

As for actual backstory, mild spoilers for story plans )

...I need to make some Sims icons now that I've settled on using this as a community.
