Diet Tea
Has anyone heard of Wu-Long tea and its weight loss properties? My aunt said that Oprah mentioned it in one of her talk shows and we've been interested ever since. Has anyone tried it? If so, does it really work? Hope it's not one of those diuretic teas that make you go to the bathroom!

Anyway, I saw the Wu-Long website already- and it turns out that Wu-Long is actually a brand of Oolong tea?

From what I can find, Oolong and Wu-Long are the same thing. It's probably an excellent replacement for whatever people normally drink but since it only burns slightly more calories than regular green tea, it's not anything magical.

Is there a difference between drinking Oolong tea in the bottle or buying Oolon tea bags in terms of the concentration of the ingredient?

In order of concentration, I'd rank them (highest to lowest):
1) loose leaf tea
2) bagged tea
3) bottled tea

Most non-herbal teas are mild diuretics and drinking extra fluids generally makes you less hungry. The small amount of caffeine also gives you energy. Beyond that, there has yet to be a conclusive scientific study linking tea to weight loss. It doesn't hurt to drink a cup or two a day, though. It's pretty good for you.

I guess so. We've been drinking green tea, though it's not a regular habit with me when it probably should be. My aunt has green tea every evening. OTOH, a girl in my office who lost a LOT of weight swears by drinking green tea a couple of times a day.

Everyone's body is different, I think, so everyone reacts differently to different foods. However, tea drinking alone won't necessarily lead to weight loss. You'd have to cut down on calories and burn more energy. Tea can help you do that - by replacing unhealthy drinks, curbing appetite, etc. - but it doesn't do it for you. I think that's probably the reason why no study has linked tea to weight loss.

Yeah, plus tea with lots of milk and sugar (mmmmm...Kirin Milk tea! Quickly Bubble tea! Royal Milk Tea! Thai Iced Tea! *__*) will definitely make you fat. Unfortunately, they're quite popular these days and unfortunately, I love them.

Yes, too bad all of those teas are delicious. Thai iced tea is my weakness. Anytime I go out for Thai food, I must have one.

Are you referring to Kankura Diet tea?

Saw them in a health store :) Never tried them, though.
