Hi ladies!
So my Prescriptives counter called me and I guess I have been not paying any attention to the outside world because i had no idea that Prescriptives was going out of business! I have been using the All Skins Mineral makeup both the liquid and powder and I finally found my HG. i love them both equally so use them interchangeably.
does anyone know of an alternative to these foundations?! as much as i love them i dont have the money to buy a bunch to stock up on. :( maybe one or two of each but thats it.
i think what i like the most about prescriptives is their color range. i use the level 2 warm light someitmes level 3 warm light and they're spot on PERFECT.
if you use Prescriptives, what are you going to do?

Ahhhh, I'm leaving the UK for the US for the first time ever tomorrow... so in typical fashion I leave it until now to panic and post! I'm starting in SF before going to SoCal.

As I know a large contingent of ABers are American, I wonder if you can help. What should I be looking to buy that I can't get in the UK? I'm already planning to exchange some of my empties at a MAC (we get free lippies, but I want free eyeshadows!), and buy stuff like neosporin and cetaphil (and maybe some AHA souffle?) for my severe troublesome skin. Also planning to get some bareMinerals, which I think is much cheaper than in London!

On another note, what do US people love from the UK that you can't get there? I'm staying with a friend's family and would like to get some gifts. So far I bought some Highland butter shortcakes (which is what my HK family hanker after, at least!) but any ideas?

I want to permanently dye my hair a chocolate brown. I was thinking a dye from a drugstore. Does anyone have any suggestions? thanks!

These are my very first designer shoes from Hugo Boss that came out in a Summer collection back in 2007. I used to work for them and of course got them at staff discount price, but without the discount it would have cost me $400.00 cdn. I got 30% off so I still spent a finger on it.

The story behind it is that back in 2007 when I worked for Hugo Boss, we would get catalogues of upcoming collections and we got to choose what we wanted and be the first to "show them off" before it got put on the sales floor. Well, I spotted these gorgeous perforated white stilettos and wanted it sooooooooooo bad. But having a child and mortgage to pay for, I knew there was no way I could afford it. I was even going to hide it behind my boyfriend's (my fiance now) back and buy it anyway, that's how bad I wanted it. But good thing I slept on that idea because the following day, I went to Walmart to buy some toiletries and found these shoes instead! I was so amazed at how similar they looked. If it wasn't for the difference in color, for sure I could have passed it on to my co-workers at Hugo Boss as the real thing.

I love these shoes and despite the cheap price, I still take good care of them. Every time one of my girl friends or my sisters come over , they're always wanting to borrow it or ask where I got it from. Too bad Walmart doesn't have it anymore. Neener!

I am proud to say that I actually only want one beauty item this year.

I wear coloured contacts (just for cosmetic purposes) and I often don't follow the one-month-throw-it-out rule. I usually wait around the 2nd month to throw it out or sometimes I wait til it's ripped.

So tell me, did you guys get yourselves vaccinated or are going to?

I've decided that I will not be getting it for myself or my kids. And I told my fiance not to get it either. I just feel that it hasn't been around long enough and no one can say exactly what the side effects are in the long run. I don't know, I feel like the vaccine was made in a rush without thorough research.

As for the H1N1 virus itself, I am also not sure if it is as malignant as the media have made it to. I mean, people die from the regular flu all the time and those are usually the same people that have died from the H1N1 already — people who have underlying health issues. I think if you are not in the high risk category, just taking the extra precautions to protect yourself such as washing/sanitizing your hands regularly, coughing into your sleeves, and eating healthy will be a good way to abstain from the virus.

What do you think? I'd like to hear (read) your opinions. And pls, no flaming! I know, no one ever does that here, but just saying.

Today is the last day of the 20% off Friends and Family promotion at Sephora, and I was thinking of ordering the Shu Uemura liquid foundation. I know it has good reviews at MUA, but I'm having a hard time choose a color for myself. In MAC, I'm NC 20. I've seen some posts where people have said they are NC 20 and Shu #774, but Sephora doesn't offer that color. Any other color suggestions? I was thinking #974?

i am considering laser hair removal after years of plucking hairs that keep coming back. i've read that it takes 6-8 treatments for hair to be permanently gone and, honestly, that sounds like its gonna cost a TON of money. on top of which, i'm scared of going to a cheap place that might botch the job.
