I've been fighting a staph infection on my skin- Two kinds of antibiotics, steroid cream and finally some clindamycin cream and a homeopathic remedy plus a crap load of herbs seem to have it fading.
Let me share with you all- Do not ignore any sort of rashes- most of them require medical attention with all the weird antibiotic resistant bugs we have going around these days. Suffice it to say, I've been anxious and cranky.
The distressed dresser turned out great. I have been sorting through the house and tackling all kinds of projects in attempt to keep the empty nest syndrome and mounting panic at this rash at bay.
Indian food tonight.
I'm not a fan of the new local trader joes but they have a great naan bread!
I miss you guys.

I drew this while on vacation in a hotel in Anaheim, cleaned it up on a train ride, and then colored it in a hotel in San Diego-- all the while listening to "Til The Ocean Takes Us All" on repeat.
And that's why this has the unbelievably unoriginal name of Pacific.
100% digital-- I drew a sketch, took a webcam shot of it, and redrew it in Painter.

There are mornings that despite the fact I have the opportunity to do so, I can't sleep in and I wake up at 6:30 a.m.. So I get online, fart around and listen to music while Josh and Reza sleep. Then out of the corner of my ear I hear her get up and come out of the room on her own. She always makes her way to me and climbs into my bathrobe with me. I love that.
I am still reeling over the fun we had last night. I was telling Josh on the walk back to the car that it's moments like the one we had just had that totally debunk all the myths that "your life is over" when you have kids. Sure things change but we had tons of fun WITH our kid and as long as we continue to take her to do fun shit like that, we will be a-ok. Reza is going to look back on her childhood, pix and videos and say, "damn my parents were pretty dope, they did cool shit with me and they didn't dress me like a total asshole". At least I hope she will.
My house looks like it got hit by a tornado. It's way too early for this shit.
Taking off to Mexico today to spend more time with the familia who all seem to be leaving a week from now, save for my mom who is supposedly hanging around for another month.
And yes, I still have Con envy.

Как выяснили, год не виделись.. ужас:) (нельзя так, нельзя!))
Юля меня немного пощелкала на мою цифру (и свою пленку. но это потом) . А когда Юля меня снимает, мне всё так нравится так нравится, что хочется тут же нескромно все показать. I have fiction ideas in my head again. But this time with details. (Though I'm a little worried I can't picture my main character yet.) So I think I should try to write it, and with that in mind, I'd like to know if anyone wants to volunteer to let me talk about this with you, get feedback, discuss ideas, etc. etc. It's an urban fantasy or supernatural investigation kind of thing, send partly in Japan, and get this--not all the characters are white (or Japanese) or straight (gah!). In fact, I think our two main characters are one lesbian Japanese butler cafe host(ess)/amateur mangaka and one bisexual female white (?) American translator. The first supporting character who has announced herself is a black/Taiwanese-American English teacher who's really into kimono (and I know she's straight because she already told me about her Japanese boyfriend :P). It takes place in some weird little Japanese town that I get to make up, Kyoto and a few other places, and the San Francisco Bay Area. If it sounds cheesy already ... sorry, you won't want to sign up below.

I was going to wait till people were back from Comic-Con, but a) I'm just going to sign up hoshizora without asking him, because I'm reading his cool work-in-progress and this will give him a reason to feel better about his writing, and b) the rest of the cool kids are probably not interested.
EDIT: Uh...I thought polls let you see who voted how? WTF? It's not working. When I click on View Answers it shows the percentages and says "No Answer" at the top. I can't find out who voted yes! (And there's more than one of you! Excitement!) Is it my cold talking?
EDIT: Lame, this is a "known issue" and will be fixed in LJ's next code release. :P Workaround: open answers in new tab. Hrm.

| Reza's First Concert |

SO tonight we took Reza to House Of Blues to see DJ Lance (Yo Gabba Gabba) open up for The Aquabats. We got down there, got in line and whatnot. DJ Lance went on first and early around 7:45 which was perfect for her not to crap out on us.
I took about 9 avi clips and very few photos. The videos were more important. So DJ Lance comes on, does his rounds down the front (where we were) and Reza is all O_0!!!! and since she is sitting on Josh's shoulders she was in plain view and DJ Lance gave her a high five. She was stoked!!! well, not as much as I was. :)
It was total sensory overload for her but she was having a blast, bouncing on Josh's shoulders and the show, despite it being super short was money well spent. They brought out Brobee and Plex on stage. Lance made it a point and kept coming over to where we were and he would wave at her and another little boy that was closeby. When Plex came out she waved to him (so cute!) and she got her groove on. They went to bring out 1 kid onstage and she didn't do shit. If that was my kid she woulda tore that shit up. She was quite the hit with other attendees, hi-fiving security guards and Josh said he saw a few people take photos of her.
So we watched DJ Lance's set and left cause we didn't want to push her. We saw what we needed to see. I tried to get her backstage to snap photos but the security guard gave me the total thumbs down and we won't be at Comicon so oh well.
Here are 2 of the better clips I got. The smile on her face was worth the ticketmaster rape.

On our way out we happened to catch this MASSIVE San Diego bike ride that ran down 2nd Ave. We were about to cross the street and BAM! I mean, it was EFFIN HUGE. We walked out and there was a SEA of bike lights and they all took up all 3 lanes in width. I got at least a 2 minute clip of it and it kept going, and going, and going.... so we stood by and cheered them on. It was a total cyclist take-over and was badass! I got the video of it but I may have exceeded my upload limit for the week. I will post it when I get more avail.
