Challenge: 23
Author: EllycatinOz
Website www.livejournal.com/users/ellycatinoz
Fandom: BtVS
Character: Rupert Giles
Genre/Rating : Gen, not even one swearword!
Word Count: 224

Rupert Giles looked out the cottage window to the narrow lane outside. Snow was falling steadily as it had for the past couple of hours. The edges of the lane were blurring into the surrounding countryside. The cottage that had looked so quaint and cute in summer was starting to feel isolated and a little alien.

Rupert glanced at the clock on the mantelpiece. Olivia was over two hours late. It didn’t take that long to get to the cottage from the airport, even if it was snowing. He wishes she would call at least to let him know. But communicating by machine was not her thing.

By degrees he became aware that the still full mug of tea in his hand had grown cold. He thought about going into the large kitchen that was the heart of the cottage to make another but the will to move was lacking. He thought about moving away from the window to sit on the overstuffed sofa near the merrily burning fire, perhaps to read his latest antiquarian find. However he didn't move, instead resuming staring out the window at the snowed in lane. A passing thought lodged deeper into his consciousness that this was his future, alone and waiting.

He hoped that this Slayer business was worth losing so many pieces of the real Rupert.

Now the night was his playground for eternity.

Darkness, magic and blood fed him. His midnight lord succoured him and his raven princess taught him how to bleed.

It was all he had never admitted needing until he sank to his knees in that alley and welcomed beautiful death.

Ripper

‘Rogue demon hunter’ Ripper smirked as he swung down off his motorcycle. Wyndham-Pryce had no concept of how to pull the look off. The boy was good looking but he just wasn’t dark enough for such a title, and Ripper was going to teach him why.

The leathers had to hug your body like a lover and you had to move like the predator you were to be a rogue anything.

Surveying the area Ripper moved closer to his prey…

“Giles, are you listening?”

Giles shook free of the daydream and turned his attention to his slayer with a sigh.

END

Ethan blinked.

“When I said ‘I want you to eat crow,’ I didn’t mean it literally,” he drawled. Ripper threw him a look.

“Idiot,” he muttered, gently stroking the bird’s feathers to reassure it. “It’s not a crow, it’s a young raven. And it’s mine. Souvenir of the spirit quest I took trying to find you. Remember?”

Ethan blinked again. He did remember. Remembered the way the spirit wolf had come to him in his dreams – walking beside him as he prowled the military compound, looking for a way out. Its fur had been tinged with starlight and the magic had whispered the way that he could be free …

“That was you?”

Ripper smiled, getting to his feet and strolling across to join the man sprawled across the bed. The raven hopped from his hand and perched itself on the bedpost. “That was me. The raven followed me home. But I gather that’s – quite common, if you walk the spirit world that way.”

Ethan blinked a third time. Slowly. Taking in what wasn’t being said. “You went pretty deep.”

“Yes.”

“You surrendered yourself to the wolf. Walked in its skin?”

“Yes.”

“There was a chance - you might not have come back …”

“Yes.”

There was a long pause. Then Ethan glanced up at the raven, which cocked its head and stared at him with one black, glittering eye. “And he calls me an idiot,” the sorcerer muttered disconcertedly. “Where’s the wolf now?”

“Watching Buffy.” Ripper grinned with sudden mischief. “She thinks I gave her a puppy for Christmas.”

Ethan echoed the grin, imagining it – the Slayer, guarded by a spirit wolf that she thought she was teaching to fetch …

But as I'm now sleep deprived from being up too long after being sick, I will shut up and edit this post when I can make more sense. I don't even remember who posts the next challenge. :)

Again, sorry for my forgetfulness and lack of tact with this post.

Power cut - Little Britain Sebastian/Prime Minister

this didn't end up having much to do with camping *grin* but it does has Sebastian in it and you don't get much campier than him...

Power cut

Author: Lilithangel

Email: abchainey@xtra.co.nz

Website: www.livejournal.com/users/lilithbint

Fandom: Little Britain

Characters: Sebastian, the Prime Minister

Rating: General

Warnings: none really, mild slashy overtone if you can call it slashy when it is the reason for the show...

Word count: 250

Disclaimer: if they were actually mine I think I would be nuttier than they are. I own nothing, no point in suing.

Summary: well… the lights go out in the Prime Minister’s office.

Sebastian was entering the Prime Minister’s office when the lights went out, and he squealed with shock.

“Sebastian it’s only a power cut,” the Prime Minister’s voice came out of the darkness, “you can get off me.”

“Yes Prime Minister, just one moment.”

“What are you doing?” the Prime Minister demanded his voice slightly strained.

“Looking for the candle I left here Prime Minister,” Sebastian said.

“That is not a candle,” the Prime Minister’s voice would have been stern if not for the squeak at the end.

“Oh my,” Sebastian hummed, “silly me. Now it should be somewhere over here…”

A match flared and a candle was lit to reveal the Prime Minister pressed against the back of the couch with Sebastian practically straddling him, stretched out to reach the candle that was apparently stuffed down the arm of the couch.

“There we are.” Sebastian placed the candle on the table and climbed regretfully off the Prime Minister, “now isn’t this cosy. We can light a fire, toast marshmallows while we wait for rescue. Maybe even tell ghost stories… whoooo… and sing songs,” he grabbed hold of the Prime Minister’s hand, “come on, Kumbaya…”

“Sebastian,” the Prime Minister pulled his hand free, “it is a power cut not a camp out. We can just go outside and wait for them to fix the lights.”

“Well,” Sebastian managed to flounce without standing up, “If that’s the way you want to be.” He stood up, went over to the door and switched on the lights, “we’ll just get back to work then shall we?”

END

Challenge 19 - Concert BtVS - Giles

Concert

Author: Lilithangel

Email: abchainey@xtra.co.nz

Website: www.livejournal.com/users/lilithbint

Fandom: BtVS

Characters: Giles, Spike, Dawn

Genre: humour, slight slash.

Summary: after Buffy’s leap Giles attempts to bring a smile back to Dawn’s face and ends up somewhere he never imagined. This is in fact the epilogue of a slightly longer fic called ‘Queuing’ which can be found at my Live Journal.

It was loud and thin like the drawn out scream of a dying Garog demon, and it went on and on. Behind it and above it was the pounding shuffle of thousands of feet counterpoint to the higher again pitched shriek of thousands of teenage girls worshipping in adoration at the feet of their idols.

Looking at Dawn’s face as she jumped up and down screaming with euphoria Giles knew the sacrifice was worth it. Seeing Spike standing there in music agony meant it wasn’t even that much of a sacrifice.

It had been the vampire objecting to Dawn’s choice of clothing rather Giles, and the vampire who had crumpled under the pressure of sad doe eyes. While Giles was gifted moderate approval for his jeans and leather jacket, and a sly grin at Spike’s expense.

Being surrounded by hundreds of screaming teenagers Giles decided it was better to be thought of as Spike’s boyfriend than some sort of creepy old man, and he hung on tight to the back of the ever present leather jacket when they squeezed through the crowd to patrol the shadows of the park.

However it seemed that ‘N Sync music was a better demon deterrent than a patrolling watcher and vampire. All they managed to do was surprise a number of amorous young people many of whom he recognised from study hall.

When Spike pinned him against a tree and proceeded to join in the activity Giles couldn’t find it in himself to object. After all he wasn’t a librarian any longer no matter what those children thought.

Here he was just a man with a disturbingly talented partner attempting to suck his brains out through his tongue. While not so cool flesh pressed up against him letting him know the desire was reciprocated.

Dinner with the Prime Minister

Author: Lilithangel

Email: abchainey@xtra.co.nz

Website: www.livejournal.com/users/lilithbint

Fandom: Xover BtVS/Little Britain

Genre: humour, mild slashy overtones

Warning: see above

Rating: G/Teen

Characters: Giles, Sebastian, Michael

Disclaimer: if they were mine I would rule the world, sadly all I own is one long suffering husband.

Summary: Giles met the Prime Minister and now they are going to have dinner together. Sebastian is not pleased. Set after ‘Meeting the Prime Minister.’ This community started it so I am blaming you...

A discreet black car pulled up to Giles’ apartment exactly at seven o’clock. Giles had been ready for over an hour after changing his clothes three times.

He had been appalled to see just how many of his clothes were tweed. He had no idea when he had turned completely into a librarian.

He finally settled on the one suit he owned that didn’t have leather patches on the elbows. He then proceeded to pace the floor of his small flat trying not to look out of the window every second minute.

His time on the hellmouth had honed his observation skills so he did notice the baby blue beetle parked outside his building, but his nerves were so tight it barely registered.

“Rupert,” Michael smiled as the driver opened the door to let Giles in, “so good to see you again.”

“You too, Michael.” Giles sat down awkwardly next to Michael.

“I hope you like Italian, We’re booked into my favourite bistro,” Michael smiled again.

“Sounds wonderful,” Giles said smiling in return.

As they entered the restaurant Giles noted absently that the same baby blue beetle was parked across the street.

Sipping on pre-dinner cocktails they started to find out more about each other leaning across the candlelit table in mirror image. Hands almost touching where they relaxed grey eyes crinkled in humour as they both ordered the same thing for entrées.

“Oh my god, what a coincidence,” a voice broke the connection between them, “here I was just fancying a quick bite to eat and here you two are.” Sebastian pulled up a chair and sat next to the Prime Minister.

“Sebastian,” Michael blinked, “didn’t you book the table for me?”

“Did I?” Sebastian pursed his lips slightly in thought, “well so I did. Imagine me forgetting that.” He glared at Giles.

“Good heavens it is dark here, how can you possibly see anything?” Sebastian placed a large candelabra onto the table and lit the candles effectively blocking Michael’s view of Giles.

“Your usual Prime Minister?” Sebastian said.

“Actually Rupert and I had decided to try the scallop fettuccini,” Michael replied.

“Well,” Sebastian huffed sending another glare in Giles’ direction, “we are trying all sorts of new things tonight aren’t we?”

Blinking, Michael moved the candelabra off to one side and smiled at Giles.

A waiter arrived with a fruit encrusted cocktail for Sebastian. Sebastian twirled the little umbrella around and with a glare at Giles stabbed one of the cherries. Looking at the Prime Minister he sucked the cherry with enthusiasm before swallowing it.

Michael looked at him oddly and then returned his attention to Giles. They began to continue their interrupted discussion when a hand flailed out and knocked a glass of water into Giles’ lap.

Giles leapt to his feet with a cry of dismay.

“I am so sorry,” Sebastian said. He dabbed a cloth roughly at Giles’ crotch.

Michael snatched it off Sebastian and gently dabbed it over the wet patch much to Giles’ embarrassment.

“Sebastian,” Michael said sternly, “I think it is time you left.”

“Yes… but…” Sebastian was silenced by the Prime Minister raising a hand at every word, “but…”

“Just go,” Michael said.

Sebastian sulked away keeping his head twisted around to watch the table stopping several times to look at the Prime Minister beseechingly.

Sebastian finally left the restaurant only to appear pressed up against the window watching as Michael apologised again to Giles.

Ignoring the thin blond man plastered to the glass Michael and Giles sat back down as the waiter cleared away the disaster Sebastian had made.

Two policemen peeled Sebastian off the window and attempted to escort him away. Sebastian’s lips were moving frantically as he scolded the police and his hands flailed at them ineffectually.

The baby blue beetle swerved off the road and hit a lamp post when the car did not drop Giles off at his apartment but instead continued on to Number 10.

THE END
