asexuals and the day of silence
So the Day of Silence is tomorrow. I'm participating, along with several students at my school, and I'm the only asexual of the lot. I'm just curious- how many of you plan to participate tomorrow?

EDIT: For those of you who would like to participate but can't do the silence (I myself can only do it during school hours- I'm stage managing a musical tomorrow evening), the website has some alternatives.

I'll be participating on my college campus. We always make it a big deal.

And yeah, I'm probably the only asexual in my organization. :D

Seeing as my job involves answering the phone, I'll be sitting this one out. :P

Considering a lot of speech is involved in my job and the fact that I didn't hear of this before now, I'm skipping.

I'm a big supporter of transsexuals, but I talk my mouth off without even realizing I am...I'd probably break it accidentally D: I'd try, but...I doubt it'll work.

What, a national excuse to not talk? *pounds hand on desk in frustration*

I need to get a job doing data entry or something. Unfortunately, being the only help desk representative for my company requires that I spend a good portion of my day on the phone as well.

Ah well.

One can participate without actually remaining silent, wearing a rainbow ribbon to show support, etc.

Being one of the allies in this community, but actually bisexual myself I'll be participating... but only in spirit, since I am a teacher. Not to mention, while I could get away with silence in the office, being called on the reason if someone realized it could get me fired ;) But it doesn't mean I'm not participating, so if any of you want to support and be silent but can't, there are other ways to do it, even if you're just thinking about it and know about it ;) After all, asexuals are just as silenced as the rest of the glbtqai community, as we all know.

There's probably no point--I'll be at home all day apart from a movie screening at my church, and it's an open and affirming church--meaning there's no one there who's really in need of the message.

Maybe I'll put my Reconciling in Christ temporary tattoo on my arm or something.

I'm participating. I'm actually the president of my school's gay-straight alliance (which can be a slightly weird situation at times, as I'm somewhat closeted still as an asexual, although out as a lesbian), so I'm one of the people who has helped make our DoS the relative big deal it's going to be... but I'm also to some extent maintaining my own silence (about my asexuality). sad. but I'll change that when I'm ready, and then cool shit will happen. (asexual GSA president, woot!)

That's awesome! I'm the asexual Public Relations officer for my GSA! :D President is a good position for us though, too.

dude, we so need a designated PR person in my group. we're reforming an old group, which fizzled out (following the graduations of the active members) years before I started here, so we're pretty tiny, and each person who is involved ends up with a lot on their plate. being president is kind of like having another class, workload-wise, but I do get kind of excited when I think about what I can do for asexuality awareness. I mean, we've done a lot for LGBT awareness, and at least those issues (with the exception of Trans in a lot of cases) are ones most people at my school know *something* about. but anyway, keep up the good work, PR-person! :)

I'm a GSA sponsor teacher, so while the kids will be participating, I cannot. At least not in the morning; I have to teach my physics kids about matter waves and the uncertainty principle tomorrow. But I'll be cutting down on my talk outside class as much as possible.
