Hi everyone,
I just wanted to share some information regarding the movie Mongol (which I'm SO EXCITED to finally see! YAY).
Here are the current theatrical release dates:
Japan 5 April 2008 France 9 April 2008 Belgium 7 May 2008 Australia 5 June 2008 UK 6 June 2008 USA 6 June 2008 (limited) Israel 10 July 2008 Netherlands 14 August 2008 Norway 5 September 2008
Kind of strange that this movie was nominated for an Oscar, and yet few had the opportunity to actually see it. I'm happy it was nominated but it would have been great if there was an actual audience for it, if that makes sense. But hey, at least it's finally coming out, and hopefully near you! Too bad it's limited release in the US. Not surprising, just disappointing.
Here's the link to the full release schedule, including past film festivals. I'm hoping this list will get updated as this film is added to future film festivals. One can hope. One can also hope that Tokyo Zombie will finally get released, but I'll grump about that in a different post. haha.
Lastly, for those who haven't seen Asano's latest (in so far as I know) modeling gig, here's a link to some very fun (and work safe) pictures with Chloe Sevigny.
Too cute, right?!
Have a great weekend, all!

Imagine my surprise at finding a community based on Tadanobu Asano.~
Oh. Hi, my name is Emilee. I first became a fan of Tadanobu Asano when an ex-boyfriend of mine bought 'Ichi the Killer' (he was a huge Takashi Miike fan). At first, I was skeptical, because he told me it was very violent. But I watched... and it was love at first sight. I've been collecting his movies ever since.
I wanted to contribute something along with my introduction, but all I have is a Tadanobu Asano is Love banner.. thing.. I made using Photoscape.
It's not fancy but it gets the message through. Feel free to add it to your profile or anywhere you want.

Hi, I'm a new member and am happy to have found this community. I was lucky enough to catch Asano host a film series in Washington, DC last weekend. Eventually (pending the completion of many, many pages of Ed Psych) I will post a summary of the Q&A sessions and the pictures I took. Just a warning, though - I am not great with a camera.
But how about some excellent NEWS!!!! for now? I was able to ask Asano about his involvement in the film adaptation of Coin Locker Babies. He acted flustered and said that he would be playing the character Gazelle. Don't hold your breath for a 2008 release, though. From his comments, it seems like the film isn't anywhere close to even pre-production. |

Hello, this would be my first post to this community....and thus my introduction post.
I could go on and on about the wonderful talents of Asano-san, but that would just be redundant. :)
Instead, I bring you a few icons. There will be more later as I continue through my DVD library...

YouTube has some great video regarding Mongol. Unfortunately for those of us that don't speak the language, these are in russian. If you adore him as I do, it's definitely worth the watch anyway. The film looks amazing. If you search his name at YouTube, a few really neat things come up as well.

| » Introductory Post |
I thought I'd oblige with an introduction post, even though I'm horrible at them. I was introduced to Asano Tadanobu when I got a free DVD of Ichi the Killer as one of the ten DVDs shipped with my region free DVD player from yesasia.com. At the time I hadn't watched a lot of japanese films, I had never heard of Takashi Miike at the time, and thought it was one of the most bizarre movies I had seen to date. A couple years ago I dressed up as Kakihara for Halloween. Since I'm female I had to improvise a bit using an ace bandage and cutting off tiny pieces from a blond wig to make a pseudo-goatee (which was really itchy). Not sure how well I passed, no one really said to me, so either they thought I was this incredibly effeminate male who had dressed up for halloween by drawing fake scars across his face, or they didn't know how to broach the topic.
Other interests (in no order), Miike, Kitano, Ando Masanobu, hide, X-Japan, Saiyuki. I am in love with icons, which is why I have so many. I read other people's journals much more often than I post on lj.
That's it, I ran out of things to say. I'll try to visit this community often, as I like talking to people with similar interests, and unfortunately I don't have a whole lot of that around where I live.
Take care!
