"Never Been Kissed (Again)"
Author: Fresh Harvest
Genre: Romance (Main), General
Rating: T (PG-13)
Length: 1 Chapter (Complete), 4535 words

Summary: When we were thirteen and paranoid, we shared our first kiss. Now he’s kissed more girls than I’d like to count and my lips are still sealed. Kind of.

Notes: Another random, albeit cliché idea, that I just went with. I had a really fun time writing it. Rated T because of just the general high school atmosphere which I don't think is appropriate for younger audiences haha. :p

If Tonight
Chapter 3: Running Hard, or Hardly Running
Author: Fresh Harvest
Genre: Romance (Main), Romance/General
Rating: T (PG-13)
Length: Total of 3 Chapters (In-Progress), 11,851 words
This Chapter: 3665 words
Summary: Matt Harper is certain he can get Madison Parnell to fall for him, and his friends decide to humor him with a bet. But what will happen when her two best friends, the formidable Lucas and Eirian, find out?

Notes: I figured that I've never deliberately written a clichéd story, and it'd be fun to try my hand at it. So here I am, trying it out. Hopefully I'll enjoy writing it and you'll enjoy reading it. Rated T because there won't be any bad language but trying to present a realistic high-school scenario otherwise means it's not squeaky clean. Oh, and it is a high school romance, though for the record I don't believe in dating in high school. :p

"Stop Defending Guillotines"
Author: Fresh Harvest
Genre: Romance (Main), Romance/Humor
Rating: T (PG-13)
Length: 1 Chapter (Complete), 2373 words

Summary: All Julia can talk about is the Committee of Public Safety, the Reign of Terror, and guillotines. She’s obsessed with the French Revolution and it’s driving me crazy. Who am I? Oh, I’m just the poor guy who’s in love with her.

Notes: I just had this random idea and went with it. I'm rating it T because the French Revolution isn't a sunshine-and-rainbows topic, though I don't go into excruciating detail or anything of the sort. And there's some kissing. :p

"Much Asaid About Words"
Author: Fresh Harvest
Genre: Romance (Main), General
Rating: K+ (PG)
Length: 1 Chapter (Complete), 2341 words

Summary: Alex is a Renaissance man who can do anything. Except, maybe, say the right words to Brooke.

Notes: This was a short story I wrote in response to a member challenge from the SKoW Awards Yahoo! Group. It is not one of my greatest works, but it's not completely terrible. It's rated K+ because there is a kiss in there (after marriage, though). All in all, the themes shouldn't be too mature or awkward, and it's not meant to be troubling.

Title: Castle Mirrors
Author: Alfsigesey
Genre: Fantasy (Main), Romance, General
Rating: T (PG-13)
Length: 29 Chapters (Complete)
Link: FictionPress.com

Summary: Castle Mirrors, as Alfsigesey aptly puts it, is a tale of Beauty and the Beast on acid, wherein Nakita, who is very shy and innocent, is taken to the Grave, the shallow remains of a once majestic kingdom, because the Prince's friends believe she might be able to break a curse by falling in love with cold and disinterested Prince Arturo.

Comments: First off, I have to say that Alfsigesey writes really amazing stories. Next: give this story a chance! I know my summary wasn't great, but it really is an incredible story. There are a lot of things in it that'll just make you go, "Wow, that was brilliant!" The storyline is original and beautifully told. I love this story so much, seriously. There's very little cursing or objectionable content, and it's just overall well-written and a fantastic read you can breeze through really quickly, just because it's so interesting. The themes in it are so timeless and beautiful, and reading it is so worth it.

Title: Cinderella Never Saw This One Coming
Author: Sally Can Wait
Genre: Romance (Main), Romance, Humor
Rating: K (G-PG)
Length: 22 Chapters (Complete) + 2 Chapters for a Related "Two-Shot"
Link: FictionPress.com

Summary: Cinderella Never Saw This One Coming is a story focused on a girl named Sadie Fisher, someone who loves fairy tales and is bright and cheerful, for the most part. Through the things that happen, she learns many lessons--like that sometimes, it pays to give someone a second chance; being judgmental isn't the way to go; and love is more than flat cliché. Featuring a whole cast of lovable characters who are put through fairly ordinary life circumstances, Cinderella Never Saw This One Coming is a charming tale about happily ever afters and more.

Comments: I really enjoyed reading every chapter of this story, simply because it's so lighthearted and the characters are just really lovable. If you're not looking for a dramatic, dark read, but just something interesting, well-written, and yet happy, go for this. As far as I remember, there isn't much questionable language, though Sadie goes into some strange points on her ponderings sometimes. I'm not sure exactly what to say, but that this story is just something that brightens your day. It's a light read, but not an airy one. I found it really enjoyable. :)

Title: When You Own the Universe
Author: Secretive
Genre: Romance (Main), Humor, Drama
Rating: T (PG-13)
Length: 26 Chapters (Complete)
Link: FictionPress.com

Summary: When You Own the Universe is a story involving the relationships mainly between Remembrance Olivia Pierce, Jonah Sheridan Mills, and Remington Oliver Pierce (who is Remembrance's twin brother). Jonah is seen as the typical spoiled rich kid, and Remington, who is also his best friend, is a genuinely kind person interested in becoming a psychiatrist and helping people. As Remembrance gets stuck being bought by Jonah for a week, she uncovers more than she bargained for, and all of them find themselves working through problems while looking to make things right.

Comments: My summary is not that great, but this story is really worth reading. The author makes the characters seem so real, and you get to understand some of the psyche behind all that's going on, and not just read a fluffy romance that has no substance. There is a reason why it's rated T, and I was sometimes uncomfortable with the language and occasional mentions of sex. It also does mention drinking a few times, but it's not the focus of the story and instead shows you more about a character. Still, I really think this story has meaning behind it--I somehow find myself reading it again and again, and I generally don't do that with stories I've stumbled across online. Just--wow. The characters feel so real, and everything's written really well. When you finish the story, you don't feel ripped off (or I know I didn't). I was really able to relate to the characters and, though I'm not able to directly pinpoint everything that made me like it, I know that it's one of the best things I've read.

Hello there, and welcome to [info]as_oneriver. I'm Grace (at [info]peaceinyou), and this is my writing journal. :)

Many parts of this community will be members-only.

At this journal, you can expect to see updates of stories posted on public websites (like FictionPress.com and FanFiction.net, if I end up posting on such websites), recommendations of stories or works I like by other authors, recommendations of authors I like, or challenges I give myself to do that I think others might enjoy partaking in, as well. Those types of entries would be public. Poems, songs, short stories, full-length works, or other such pieces may also find themselves here. However, those are the kinds of entries that would be members-only.

If you would like to see some entries on the latter type, please comment here. (Comments are screened.) If I already know you, awesome; if I don't, it's okay to still give it a shot--but please comment here letting me know how you found [info]as_oneriver and why you'd like to join. I'll comment back and send you an invite if you are accepted. Likewise, that means that I trust you and you are expected to be respectful (i.e. not reproduce or redistribute my works, claim them as your own, etc.). My writing is quite personal to me, and as such, I hope you will understand that I am not obliged to admit everybody.

To the people I do admit--I would greatly appreciate it if you could provide some feedback. I understand people are busy, so you don't have to comment on every entry, but, especially if I hadn't known who you were prior to your request to join, I'd appreciate it if you didn't make yourself a stranger.
