I've finished this picture a little while ago, but I have been working on it for nearly half a year. It was the largest art project I ever took on, and I've learnt a lot during it. Still, because I'm on an endless hunt for things to work on and improve, I am posting it here, on the hunt for concrit. All comments are fair game, and fire at will :)

| Pirates of the Caribbean, digital art, R (slash) |
[14 May 2005|05:33pm] |
Software/materials used: Photoshop 5.5 Approx level of artist: Intermediate to Professional Specific advice required: I've taken an old picture of mine, which started out as a manip but has massive painting elements and re-edited it - I wasn't satisfied with my finishing, because I really rushed it, so now, more than half a year later, I decided to edit it some more. I would like to know if the edits work, if they are better, what you think still needs editing (except for Jack's left hand - I know that one isn't good yet, although I would appreciate suggestions on that, too). Also, for those who are familiar with the movie, I would like to know whether Norrington bears enough familiarity, or his face still needs work. Areas on which advice not wanted: None Deadline: None Challenge: Nope

| The O.C., digital art, G |
[13 May 2005|06:27pm] |
Software/materials used: Photoshop CS Approx level of artist: Intermediate (more on the beginner side than expert) Specific advice required: I was experimenting and ended up with something that isn't usually my style, but I like it a lot. The only problem is that I feel like something is missing. I don't know what I could add to make the whole thing look more complete. Also, the theme of the collage is 'our friends are running a book (betting) on us'. I'd like to know if that's what the collage convey and if not, what I could do to correct that. Thank you in advance for your suggestions. Areas on which advice not wanted: None Deadline: May 23 Challenge: Yes

Level of artist the tutorial is aimed at: Intermediate to advanced. Beginners, too, if they know how to fix colors and use the eraser.

| Moderator reminder |
[12 Jul 2004|10:02pm] |
Just a reminder to members to friends-lock your posts on artists_guild. The idea is to be able to receive advice in privacy, and for everyone to be comfortable with posting unfinished work.
The only unlocked posts should be the moderator posts.
If you're not sure how to friends-lock a post, email one of the mods or leave a comment here.

First of all I'd like to thank everyone who's provided such valuable advice on the art posted so far. I hope you're all finding it useful. And thanks for using the template: I think that's working well.
Now for a couple of updates to the community guidelines. Some concern has been expressed at the lack of ratings on explicit work, so we've decided to ask you to use a simple header on your post:
Fandom/original art, medium, rating
For example: Alias, digital art, PG-13
If you're not sure of the rating, it's best to pick a higher one to be on the safe side.
I'll add this to the community info for easy reference.
Secondly, elli, rebelpoetus and I have split up the community jobs between us. rebelpoetus will be dealing with any membership issues/queries, elli will help with coding/hosting questions and I'll be seeing to the rules. You'll find our individual email information on the info page, plus a general email address that all three of us access for any other questions.
elli and rebelpoetus will be doing a regular round-up between them to link back to older posts where help is still needed and to show the finished results where available.
Finally, I've noticed that a few non-members have friended the community. While you're welcome to do so, all art posts are friends-locked, so the only posts you'll see will be moderator posts like this one!
