I'd like to put in a good word for c_oo, who was referred to me in a previous post (to those who did comment, I've been busy so I'll get around to looking at those later!), and BOY HOWDY!
I commissioned her for a picture of my Commander Shepard, from the video game 'Mass Effect'. (For those curious, you can create/customize a Male or Female Shepard and Philo here is my first/primary) Everything about this just sums up my Shepard and I'm absolutely floored.
Plus she was very timely (Wait isn't a problem for me personally, but I figure it'd be worth mentioning) and very friendly to do business with.
Suffice to say if she takes them again in the future -or even a full commission- I would be happy to do business with her again. =]
And for those curious, the end result:

Howdy!
First, I apologize if this type of post isn't kosher. I've seen a couple, but I will be happy to delete if necessary.
That said, I'm wondering if anyone knows anyone who's taking LJ icon commissions currently, somewhere in the $5-10 range (since that's all I can afford right now. I'll be getting more hours at work next month, so I'll be able to pay for higher end commissions again soon-ish) if at all possible, though I am willing to go $15 if necessary.
(Sketch commissions are also a plus too, since I can color those and resize them for icons myself as well)
The caveat is that I'd prefer someone who can draw humans really well and isn't opposed to fan art/characters.
I'd love to have an icon of either my Commander Shepard (from 'Mass Effect') or Detective Naiad a 'Mass Effect' fan fic character of mine (she's an asari, a blue fem*alien race from the games).
I figure it's a tall order -especially when humans are involved-, but I thought it wouldn't hurt to ask.
Thanks!

I'm new here (how on earth did I not know about this place? I've been missing out!), but I'd like to recommend an artist I commissioned earlier this year.
The artist is Sepia (formerly known as "SushiCougar"), and this is the picture I had her do (NFSW: non-sexual nudity).
I wanted to commission an anniversary gift for my boyfriend, and Sepia offered to do. Her prices are great (I, personally, think she undercharges herself), her work is beautiful, and she's great to work with. This picture has a lot of meaning to me so I gave her a lot of detail, refs, etc to work with and she was very patient. She showed me WIP sketches, got it done quite a bit before I'd told her I needed it, AND surprised me by adding a detailed background even though I didn't pay for it. She did a wonderful job, and I definitely recommend miss Sepia to anyone looking to commission something awesome.
Also, this is un-related to my particular experience, but one thing I really love about her work is that she's great at all different body types and species. Her gallery has everything from geese and beavers to dogs, and thin and muscular body types to the chubby types. She has a lot of variety. :)

I would just like to use this opportunity to put in not only a great word but an un-believably FANTASTIC word for The Plan Pony : theplanpony.deviantart.com/
I commissioned her not even a week ago, the level of service was unquestionable. She promised a WIP sketch within three days, she got it to me within 2. She promised all new commissions would be completed within two weeks, she got it to me within 1!! :D !!
The piece in question. i13.photobucket.com/albums/a255/Gaaralover85/sugarstarkcomissionscaled.jpg
Her level of professionalism, skill, talent, and communication is all first rate! Having had some problems with another artist (to do the same peice) i found her to be refreshing, accomodating and well worth trading with time and again! I'm already saving up for my next commission from her! She made the time to treat me with respect, was able to do changes and alterations gladly and allround a super sweet girl!
Her prices are good, the standard excellent, her colour balance just spot on. Seriously this girl should get more work! She can't do anthro/furry unfortunately but her humans are just simply to die for!
Words can't describe how happy i am with her service :3

I'd been looking for an artist to do a very special piece for my husband and I's 6 year wedding anniversary, and I thought to ask someone I've always admired, but never commissioned.
djinni ( ninjahijinx.com ) made me an amazing deal on what I wanted. He was completely patient, allowing me to make payments on the piece, and had a sketch to me before I even had the first payemnt sent. His turn around time is amazing (even though he got very sick and took a little longer on mine, which I completely understand) and had it shipped to me right on time for when I needed it.

So, if you want a high-quality illustration with beautiful coloring and adorable art, check out djinni!

Hi there!
I need some help with finding an amazing artist to ever immortalise my wedding day to my lifemate DragoDracini.
So i'd like to look around now for a person who might be interested in doing this piece of work for me, i can't promise anything but i will look through any person's gallery who posts. I'm pretty much at a loss of thinking of anyone i'd really like to do it for me, i'm doing him something but i'd love another artist to do this.
What i'm looking for is a full colour, 2 character, full background piece. With someone proficient at doing winged felines, wedding attire, chinese gardens and hybrid characters. I have pretty high standards, and considering this is going to be one of my wedding gifts to him, and to be framed and hung on our living room wall, i want it to be just right! I know that i cannot really afford one of the top names to do this for us. I'm on a pretty limited budget moneywise, our situation is complex and i'm moving from the UK all the way to the US with subsequent visa fees etc to pay.
I can't go any higher than $60-70 MAX for this, unless you do payment plans etc. Obviously the less i get it for the better in all honesty with all the bills i have to pay right now.
Traditional OR digital i dont mind! :D
Here's a sample at what would be included in the picture:
Dress: www.alfredangelo.com/Collections/ProductDisplay.aspx (click detail to see the front, they didnt do a good job of the photography! but i can provide higher quality photos as i've brought the dress!) Venue: www.cateringstlouis.com/weddings/loc_ceremony_chineseGarden.php (click on the photos to see it more clearly)
Characters: me: www.furaffinity.net/view/1953876/ him: www.furaffinity.net/view/2866128
I would very much appreciate any help people can give me, either linking to yourself or another for this job! I wont be getting married (if the paperwork goes through ok) til APRIL 2010. So this gives plenty of time to vet, find, and sort out this commission and for them to do the work obviously! :D <33
Thanks so much! :D I appreciate it! Sugar xxxx

RaeRae/Rae-Rae
Name: Rae-Rae Type: Gray Scale Commission Score: A+ Comments: Rae-Rae worked very quickly and efficiently. When I requested alterations be made to the sketch, they were done so promptly and more than met my satisfaction. When she mailed me the original she mailed me the sketch, the line art, and a nice print of the finished piece. This made for a wonderful Birthday present for my boyfriend and I'm pleased to have chosen Rae-Rae! Check her out!

I had to take a moment out of my busy day to send out good vibes and props the Chival way. She is making these incredibly classy and amazing Carasol badges, and only for 12 USD (and that includes shipping). She has lots of examples on her FA, so if you are just the least bit impressed by mine, check out her other ones which are equally if not more so amazing.
Chiv is friendly, commutative and prompt. I highly recommend commissioning her and giving her more business.

I commissioned wolfyttwisted for a badge via teenycom. Within hours of my response she replied back, I sent away a description and had a sketch in my hands a few hours (if not less) afterwards. I had my completed coloured badge in less than 24 hours. (Even more amazing considering the time zone difference ;)) You can view the completed badge here: http://www.furaffinity.net/view/2848871 (It will be shipped to me, but as postal services here can be extremely flakey I will leave that outside this review, most delays here are due to postal services, not the artist :))
She was very nice through the entire process, asking me if I'd want anything changed and allowing me to have a lot of input. I especially liked that she got very creative, I told her I'm an archaeologist and asked if it'd be possible to add a bone somewhere in the picture. Well I got a pleasant suprise :) Not only did I get a bone, she drew me sitting on a block with fossils, ammonites and even more bones. She really captured the character perfectly.
Very, very worth my 10 dollars ^^

I'm looking for something rather specific and I'm hoping someone here can recommend a good artist.
My army company is in rather dire need of a new company mascot/logo. We are the 'Black Sheep' and our current mascot/logo is three cartoonish, fluffy sheep. Not military at all. They are, frankly, embarrassing and I am willing pay for something new.
What I have in mind would be a vaguely anthropomorphic wolf-in-sheep's-clothing. I want something who can do it in a gritty (is gritty the right word?) style, rather than the still-somewhat-cartoonish style I'm used to associating with furry art. (Not that there's anything wrong with that style, but if I'm going to be wearing this on my PT shirt, I want it to look tough.)
Are there any good artists out there who could help me out and have open commissions?
7/27/09 10:33 pm
I commissioned lilenth on the back of, ironically enough, a journal post I'd made to the artists_beware community (about myself!). Three pics, one sketch one b/w and one colour.
So:
+ Pictures are well-drawn. + I got in-between sketches of the pictures she had drawn for me as well as the pictures themselves. + The final pics (not the sketch one) are on higher-grade card. + The b/w was coloured. + Communication was good. + Willing to work with me and a third party (who I'd show the in-progress stuff to, they'd feed back to me what they wanted changing - as the pics involved their character as well). + Up-front with prices and what she would (or would not) do for me, able to adapt to a (albeit minor) change in paying plan. + Willing to take suggestions on-board.
- Far from her fault (and let's face it, life throws us all curveballs at times), but it took a little longer than I anticipated. This is why the b/w pic was coloured. Having the third party involved probably didn't help here, but that's more my problem. - In comparison to some prints I ordered, the packing for the pics was less than optimal. Creased and curved around the corners, the finished pics especially could've done with being put in transparent plastic sheeting to help keep them in good condition.
So, I'd say 8/10 overall. Professional, friendly, open. If I get the money to, I'd be happy to commission her again.

So I have some ideas on paper, pretty damn fetishy, especially concidering Aheria's herm. Anyone know of anyone open for sketch commissions in the 10-25 dollar range for two char sketches? I'm looking for quality art, clean sketches. Not too messy with minimal under-sketchings cleaned up if poss. Don't care if you doodle on your tablet or take out a pencil - either is fine. That are REALLY open minded? Most of this is bondage stuff, but there is a bit of non-con, size difference, cross dressing and ( rangarig type) machinery involved. Note me if you need more detail before you go foisting me off, if you need to. Clearly, they must be able to draw dragons, not mind herms, and be able to understand one char is 9ft dragon and the other is 4'6 cat-dog. Must like spots. (especially for the one I have in mind of herm Aheria and male Aheria in one piece. Holy carp, spots.) I'm watching over 1500 people on FA so you think I'd know of someone myself but I'm not sure off-hand, so, yeah. Or even some crazy person who takes requests for such things. Now, I'm dreamin'. LOL.
Thanks.

Ok I NEED to post this person to this community simply because their work is so unique and so beautiful... and she charges some really good prices for custom work.
I commissioned Goiku@DeviantART for a custom plush design of my character. I can honestly say I was floored at the outcome. Photos do not do this justice! Goiku is so talented, the thing barely shed at all once I received it. The stitching is flawless. I can NOT speak enough about her work.
Just go check out the design she made for me: http://goiku.deviantart.com/art/Commission-for-Kitoxa-127654074
And go view the rest of her gallery: http://goiku.deviantart.com/

Hi, I'm back again with another recommendation! I've commissioned a couple people since I last posted (though the one I'd done recently -the icon I'm using being an example- was a private deal and I don't think the artist is taking them publicly at the moment), but I wanted to pass this along.
I'd like to recommend Atomic Stoney (DA page here).
This was the piece I comissioned.
There's a bit of an, um, story behind this one. Long story short, life happens to the best of us. But what matters is that she delivered a very beautiful picture that was very much well worth the wait and then some.
Her overall style and coloring is gorgeous and very worth it. So check her stuff out when you get the chance! =]

... if there was a place to talk about positive experiences. But then I just read their profile information an' found this place. :3
Most of my experiences with commissioning people and getting commissions have been positive, so I really don't have much to post about over there. A lot of the people that I've commissioned from in the past no longer take commissions, which is kinda sad, but so far as I know the people I'll be mentioning still are accepting commissions.
Dagger - Was fast and looked good~ DripDry - I didn't commission them myself, my boyfriend commissioned her for a secret present for me. But, he told me he was happy with the process. Also, these prices are dirt cheap for no real reason. Sefeiren - Another situation of fast but with good work behind it. Bonez - She tells you it'll take a while ahead of time. (They're a busy person~) But the art is worth the wait in my opinion. :3 Balitiger - Just got a commission done by them. They give frequent updates and are perdy quick about it, too~
How common is it to advertise commissioners? I'd have a pretty large list if I did, they've mostly all been very agreeable and pleasant to work with.

Just thought I ought to mention someone who's really worth commissioning. <3
This awesome lady, here, is probably my all-time favorite artist to commission. She has her comission prices listed on the front page of her DA account, there. Her prices in and of themselves are fantastic. I've commissioned her... 3 times, now? And every time she's been timely and cooperative and lovely to work with. Most recently I had her do this thing: ...for a friend's birthday. She finished that whole thing, seven characters and a complex background, in less than a month's time to have it ready in time, and got a bunch of other art done during that time, also. She's amazing. Not even kidding! So she'sdefinitely worth checking out. Beautiful art, fantastic prices, reliability... what more could you ask for? |D

Recently,I had really good commission experience with the artist here on FA,under the name Ocha-ken http://www.furaffinity.net/user/ocha-ken
Ocha-ken did such a wonderful picture of a serval for me! here's the picture: http://sites.google.com/site/ischeart/pic/servalSmall.jpg (safe for work) beautiful eyes and all,no? :)
Ocha-ken's Communication skill is pretty much as good as her artistic skills. After receiving a basic description of the commission description, Ocha-ken did a digital concept sketch for me. http://sites.google.com/site/ischeart/pic/sfukua.png Then I said I really love it and all, then she/he did the sketch on the paper and showed it to me,for my approval.
After few days,Ocha-ken showed me the fully colored picture! I wanted the original shipped to me,so she/he sent it to me. I just got the mail about 2 days ago,it was securely wrapped up and inserted between cardboards. and piece of oilpaper wrapping the picture to secure that picture does not get blurry at all. The picture arrived without one single warp or scratch.
Overall,Commissioning Ocha-ken was pleasure. :)
EDIT:Picture is safe for work, ignore the adult content warning.

Just wanted to say a public thank-you to an artist on FA who has recently completed a commission for me - I won't link to it because it is a little, heh...racey :-)
http://www.furaffinity.net/user/todex
This guy was fantastic. Excellent communication all the way through, very receptive to my silly little requests for tweaking during the design phase, great result. He even provided a total of three variations on the picture - from clean to BEEF! at no extra charge ;-)
So yeah... really nice guy, very quick on the artwork (even though there was no rush), and someone I'd recommend to anyone interested in attractive, scaley characters.
Over and out!
Sounds: Garbage - Sex Is Not The Enemy
