November 1812.
The Soviet people in a single impulse is going to celebrate the two hundredth anniversary of the 1812 war. Well then what an artist, should do? He is a member of the society :) And he also should not stand in the party :) In general, this is kind of a joke, but the thing came out like this...

Still life with camomiles.
Perspectiveless still lifes still captivate me with the same force. At some point, I really thought that my interest in them is not as strong as before... And, it turned out — that's not! :)
Funny enought, this one is the tenth in the series. Jubilee ... Red still life for the Red date :)

Vyborg. Arts school building.
This building has attracted me, almost as soon as I saw it. And, I must say, it was quite a long time ago...
Such a white, graceful and majestic thing rising on a granite rock, facing the bay. Surrounded by deserted silence, with absolutely no one around... When you stay next to it, you feel like the city around you completely disappears.
Personally, I always get a fantastically-emotional-heroic feeling there, that reminds me Sergei Snegov's sci-fi prose.
I even a little jealous of Mr. Ullberg, who managed to not only design, but also to build this wonder, which is now the «Hermitage-Vyborg» Center.

Still life with sandwich.
Contrary to the July heat, that burns my brain out, I returned to the theme of perspectiveless still lifes. This is the ninth work in a series. I don't know whether the last one, but the ninth :)
Incidentally, I definitely love still lifes. Always loved. In particular, for the fact that such a seemingly simple genre can tell very different stories. This story, for example, is about my breakfast :)

Yes, I have to admit that recently I'm seriously interested in painting ring roads and highways. There is something fascinating, alluring and mysterious in them... Not to mention the fact that, in my own opinion, they are just very beautiful... So far I've got to the ring road of Helsinki — Kenhä.

Ring Road construction close to the Kirov factory.
I envy artists of the late XIX - early XX centuries ... They lived facing to technological revolution of everything.
I'm spoilt by industrial landscapes of the late XX - early XXI century, but still all of that stuff excites me. Than it's difficult to imagine the the power of excitement that changes in the world made to artists who lived only just about hundred years ago.
Today, when we look, for example, at "Steam locomotive in the Snow" painted by Monet in 1875, we (well, at least me for sure) feel nostalgic feeling, as if looking at something from another, past life. More regular, noble, great, and maybe a bit naive ...
And in this case, we absolutely don't think about some simple things: that the steam locomotive was invented in 1804, and the first railroad in France, was built only in 1832 .. So for Monet and his contemporaries, the steam engine was something like, for example, Large Hadron Collider for us today...
And the Ring Road for me is something new, something that changing my environment and my life ... That is why, I think I'm painting it with such interest.
