xgirlnxd] is the owner & maintainer of the community, although no icons at this point will be made from her, all questions should be directed at her as she will still maintain the community along with Amanda [valiancy]. Welcome to artificialicons. The status of the community is closed, which means no new members can join without my permission. I've tried to filter out the members that appreciate the icons we make, and those who don't. So if you are someone who appreciates GOOD icons/graphics then you will need to request to join. And I [
xgirlnxd] will be the judge on whether you get in or not.What I look at in order to accept/reject your request to join:
-credit!! this is the first thing i look, and it can make or break you. i go to the keywords of the user icons!! for credit, if i don't see it there, you're automatically rejected!
-credit for banners should be visible in the userinfo or somehwere near there
-the style of icons you're currently using doesn't have a HUGE deal on whether you're accepted/rejected, but sometimes it can push me over the fence on either side.
Things you might get rejected for:
-having no icons uploaded
-having no friends added except icon journals
-having no journal entries
I view this community as, well, an elite community, one of the best therefore, I want ONLY the good members. This probably doesn't sound fair, but it's my community and I want it to be the best it can be.
To request to join, click here. It will email me a request to either accept or reject your request to join, and you will get an email back letting you know which one I chose. If you request to join in any other way, it will be ignored.
The community is also friends only, so keep that in mind when viewing the community & in ideas of having it on your friends list for easy access & such.

artificialicons is an icon requesting community, created on May 03, 2003 by Lynn [
xgirlnxd]. artificialicons has been running strong for just about 2 years now and is still owned & maintained by Lynn only. Though our forte is in making icons we also accept requests for banners, backgrounds, headers, etc. although not quite as often as icons. There are specific icon makers that will make your icons and other graphical needs. Icon makers here are also free to post their own creations either for public use or just to show off.
- You are allowed to request TWO icons PER WEEK +/or ONE banner/header PER WEEK. If you choose to request a background, you aren't allowed to request any other backgrounds for one month, and you may not request anything else for that week.
PLEASE go HERE for more clarification on this rule!! - If you choose to request your two icons for the week, you can no longer request both icons for one icon maker. You can only request one for an icon maker, and the other for another icon maker. This lightens the load on a lot of icon makers, and gives you a chance to experience the other makers.
- You are not allowed to request icons/graphics for anyone BUT YOURSELF. Do not request anything for friends/boyfriends/girlfriends/etc. If they want an icon, they can request to join. This is a closed community for a reason, and if you request for another user, it makes it hard for us to make sure credit is given and exactly where the graphic is being used. There are no exceptions to this rule.
- Provide specifics in your request [colors, text, animation, etc.] And on requesting a background, provide your screen resolution.
- You must specify ONE icon maker to do your request. Check the bottom of the info, where it lists the icon makers, to see if the icon maker is or isn't taking requests, it is very self explanatory, so READ IT
- Do not post any of your graphics/icons without permission from the owner [xgirlnxd]. THIS WILL MOST LIKELY LEAD TO BANNING IF YOU DO!
- Do not make any other member's icons.
- Do not promote your community here without permission from the owner [xgirlnxd]. Visit community_promo for that.
- Make your request in a new entry. The finished icon/graphic will be posted in a new entry as well, so check back.
- Be patient. Posts asking about where their icon is & if it's going to be done, if you can repost, etc will most likely be ignored &/or deleted. This gets VERY repetitive. It might take them more than a week to finish your request, so please be considerate and kind. If you dont have your request after 3 weeks of waiting, then you are free to post asking about it, NOT re requesting or being completely rude. & if it's been 3 weeks, simply either make a post asking or find the icon maker's [that you requested from] latest post & comment asking about it.
- The icon makers have lives as well, so it may not get done that day, but SHOULD ALWAYS get done no matter what, unless otherwise said [check the original request you made for any problems/questions].
- DO NOT CROSS POST! Cross posting leads to banning.
- ALL images must be placed behind the lj-cut.
- Credit is NEEDED in the keywords of the userpics. If you have any questions on how to go about doing this, it's okay to ask. Credit is a must, and if an icon is not credited, you may very well get deleted from the community.
- Be polite to everyone.
**Failing to follow these rules [which are rather simple], will only get you deleted and banned from the community. Warnings may or may not be given. It's simple. I am no longer afraid of deleting/banning members, as i want this community to succeed. So watch out and yeah.. GROWL.
