Hey, guys. I've pulled myself out of my rp rut, so I figured it was a good time to find out if you guys are still up for having the Lady around. I occurs to me that I could do something around Summer Solstice, seeing as I don't really want to have to wait until St Stephen's to do a canonical entrance, however cool it would be.

Any ideas?

That canon discussion [Mar. 5th, 2007|02:00 pm]

dragon_twin
All right, so based on the recent backroom post, we can perhaps use this post to discuss our issues here.

Rym has put a helpful list in Bran's journal for you DiR types. (And Rym, I'm linking because it's a public post and I didn't think you'd mind. If you do, please let me know and I'll edit out the link!)

As for the rest they're all already "punctured", though I'm not certain about Merlin - Sam? - so it may not be much of an issue? And personally, I have no problem with other characters knowing the Arthurian myths or mentioning them to Melou, since he's dealt with it several times already. Looking from their perspective on what would be fictional to them, I could only come up with the Greek and Roman myths, although Mordred is a stickier one to pin down with this, since he's been ghosting around for centuries. That's up to you, I think, Ashie.

Feel free to add your comments if I've missed anything, if you agree, or if I'm being too presumptuous in doing this. >.>

Hey, all.

Just a note, if you have a character from The Dark is Rising or any Arthurian canon, please wait till after your character has been approved at the bar before applying for membership at this comm.

Because it confuses me less. *grins*

Hello All!

This is Sam, and I have been playing around Milliways for awhile.

A new character of mine will be entered soon and I wanted to give a heads up before sending him in as he could affect others.

Okay - Rym and Gramarye?

I have, I think, three steps that need to be done before Camlann can happen in Ulfin's universe. One of them I can do tomorrow, and I should have the other two dealt with by the end of next week, and the last of those steps is Camlann. After that, it doesn't really matter how long goes past before he comes back to the bar, though I'd rather it was at least a few days bar-time.

Does that work with your planned timing?

DiR/Arthurian plot [May. 13th, 2006|09:47 pm]

most_generous
You all may have noticed a series of letters going back and forth between Milliways and Arthur's kingdom beyond the North Wind. These belong to a developing plot involving Guinevere's future and the fixing of some of the last remaining broken Pendragon family relationships.

Arthurian players should know the following: [info]most_generous, Dark is Rising-canon Arthur Pendragon, is never going to enter the bar. Assuming all goes well, however, he is going to stand at the other side of the doorway to Milliways exactly once. That thread will be played out in Guinevere's journal rather than in the main bar, and will involve only prearranged characters, so as not to cause the kind of breakage Arthur was reserved in order to prevent. (I checked this with Ashie, who co-reserved Arthur with me, and with one of the mods.)

Dark is Rising players, especially Adiva, Sweeney and Gramarye, should check this OOM in Arthur's journal to make sure it doesn't conflict with any established Millicanon or any of your ideas about how Things Went Down. If you have any corrections to the OOM, leave them here or email them to me at rymenhild at yahoo.

If any of you have questions, comments or concerns, again, leave them here or email them!

A note on what we were discussing last night in chat:

Millicanonically, Blodwen knows that Guin is somewhere in the hills. She may even know the girl is at Owen's. In either case, it seems feasible that she's already set things up to do something like this with Caradog and the Grey King. In the first case, she simply needs to know where Guin is, and in the second, she just needs to know when Owen is out of the house.

When Owen arrives at the Rowlands' house, how easy it is for good Mrs. Rowlands to step into the kitchen for tea while Owen and John talk -- and how easy for the White Rider to take those few moments to set things in motion. From there, Blodwen only needs to stall Owen for what she judges to be long enough for the deed to be done. The sheep crossing the road and delaying him more only help her.

As for John's interference -- do we have a specific canon reference that says that Blodwen sent him after Owen? If so, all I can think is that Blodwen timed this carefully so that there would be a witness to Owen attempting to kill Caradog. If not, perhaps John simply forgot to tell Owen something, or Owen left something at their house, and John follows him to take care of that.

Incidentally, did we ever make a firm decision on where the "little golden thing" Guinevere plays came from? An explanatory reference would be nice.

Did you guys come up with a name for the dog? *grin*

cywyllog
As some of you may or may not be aware, (after much waffling on the part of both me and my puppet) Cywyllog is out of bar but will be returning very shortly along with her sons. So yes, two year old twin sons of Mordred will be scampering about.

I'm planning on keeping them around for about a month, so anyone and everyone is free to interact with them, if desired. I'm putting few restrictions on them, since well, they're two and will not be remembering this, canon-wise.

If anyone has any questions or concerns, or anything, let me know!

Okay, so.

This character was apped last month, and there was a mixup, or something, I'm not sure what -- I'll be reapping him if required.

But I've been following the recent tDiR-Blodwen awesomeness, and want to ask if I can help. See, canonically, Terence, this pup, is friendly with and has some influence over Robin Goodfellow/Puck, and I'd like to bring him into the bar with some guarenteed plot. Since Puck is already involved with the rising Dark power, it would not be an illogical place to start him off.

Um, ideas, suggestions, et cetera?

Plot, anyone? [Dec. 10th, 2005|12:02 am]

blue_eyed_lord
[mood |determined]

Hallo, all.

I know there hasn't been much of the Black Rider around lately due to his mun, Alana ([info]raindrenched) being caught up in school work and such. It's that time of year for a lot of us, me included. But, since I am a bit more of a slacker than Alana, she and I have engineered a management change. Now, everyone's favorite (or second-favorite) Lord of the Dark is being mun'd by [info]saphyria, me. I promise to let him out of his cage occasionally, for snark and Dark deeds.

Speaking of which...

Last we saw of our hero villain, he was very much weakened by his foiled attempt at getting out into a world other than the DiR-verse. A world where he could find a foothold and have another shot at bringing the Dark into power, and taking over. Since then, he's been... very weak, spending most of his time thinking and quasi-sleeping. He has very little power in him. All he has is Milliways and the space outside of Time. To him, there is no question of where he'd rather be. He considers Milliways to be his workplace, for the time being, because it's all he has to work with.

So, in his time of thought since his defeat, he's been thinking about the place itself. Milliways is a place full of emotions and emotional situations. Love, lust, friendship, goodnatured snark, pointed remarks, awkward flirting, awkward silences, cold looks, dislike, anger, bar fights, occasional bouts of torture, betrayal, guilt, jealous boyfriends, bad breakups, anguish, love of cruelty, hate.

Now, say the Black Rider used some of his remaining power to spell some innocuous item to collect the power behind the negative emotions in the bar. The item, not in-and-of-itself Dark, could be left under the couch or on the underside of a table, where it would not be noticed by the patrons, or those who could potentially mess up his plan. Left there, it would collect and store the power of the negative emotions of those around it.

___
EDIT: Gen has suggested he get a boost of power from a third-party-evil-party to give him the strength he would need to make the item into the power-of-neg-emotion-catcher/container. He hasn't been in the bar for long enough that he doesn't know.... much of anyone who would be willing to give him any power, other than perhaps Yrael, who would do it for a lark. (Literally.) We'd need a character who would be willing and able to give him power on short notice. Thing is, who?
---

Of course, the Black Rider would probably only have until Twelfth Night to get this done. Otherwise, he'd miss his chance. 'Tis the season, and all that.

Once the spelled dark-emotion-collector was "full", or on Twelfth Night, the Black Rider would siphon the power out of it and into himself, returning himself to his former power. It'd be a sneaky, non-rule-breaky ( no violence, no business, and no naked) way fulfill his current goal. Through this, he could return himself to his former strength under the noses of the Light Brigade.

What say you?

emrys_lost
Hello! I recently apped this character, and he has been approved. However, before I send him into the bar, I thought I should post something here just as a quick warning to all of the other Arthurian's who may want to poke him with a spoon. I... am getting serious deja vu, so if I have already done this warning, I apologise.

But, weird mental echoes aside, this is my new character. His name is Emrys. But everyone calls him Merlin. And yes, he is that Merlin. Well, he will be. Someday. Right now he's just a pissy little teenage boy with powers he's afraid to use. So... you can probably see why I wanted to give y'all warning.

Canonically, my Merlin has met Arthur, however, it was a very young Arthur from an alternate future who was already being trained by his alternate future self. I say alternate future because weird stuff happened in that book that oldguy!Merlin didn't remember happening (like meeting himself, for instance) so it can't be the same Merlin, or the same Arthur. Time travel hurts my head. So... perhaps I should rephrase. Merlin knows that some day he is going to train someone who will be really famous. And that he's destined to be a great wizard. He thinks both prophecies are a bunch of hooey, and he plans on growing old and dieing with the woman of his dreams. Awww... naive young love.

The one thing the other Arthurian's will probably recognise about this particular Merlin is Excaliber, which he does happen to have possession of. He knows that it is going to be important, so he's very overprotective of it... but he doesn't know why. He is also the only person he knows who knows the sword's name, as anyone else who learns it automatically forgets it so it might freak him right out to have other people recognise the sword. Magic is weird, what can I say.

I don't know when I'll get a chance to bring Emrys Merlin in... my computer went plettthhhh a few days ago, and they're saying it may be a week or more before it's fixed. But, as soon as it is, I plan on throwing him to the wolves. So, if you want to poke a pissy Merlin!baby, keep an eye out.

And if you want to know anything about him that you think your character should know, just comment here, or IM/e-mail me (Sherrineko, both AIM and @gmail).

Plot post: I need ideas, if you could help! [Aug. 29th, 2005|05:30 pm]

maid_of_astolat
Elaine's time at Milliways is drawing near to a semi-retirement. (Which means that by the end of Dec. I'm going to need a co-mod!)

I've said before that Elaine's journey has been along the lines of a Mythic Quest plot, which proceeds in this manner: Cage, Escape, Quest/Road of Trials, Dragon Confrontation, Home.

As many of you can guess, Elaine is on the Quest/Road of trials portion of her journey. To keep this theme going, I'm going to have to keep her swordplay lessons going, to keep the martial arts training going, learn Rune Magic, etc.

What I need is a "Dragon Confrontation". No, it doesn't have to be a literal Dragon, of course, but it needs to be something that Elaine can defeat, using as much of her ability as possible. It doesn't even have to be something that she defeats alone, but it does have to be difficult.

So...if anyone here has any ideas, please put them down! I'd appreciate any input people can give me.

Thanks!

I've put up a fairly general view of Cywyllog's backstory here. I do have most of the little details in my head, but to write it all down would have resulted in a novel, so if there are any questions or curiosities, please ask and I'll be happy to fill things in!

[mood |plottish]

I've run this idea by both Steph (Cywyllog-mun) and Ashie (Mordred-mun), so now I thought I'd run it by the [info]arthur_ways people as a whole.

So far, we have established that Cywyllog's counterpart in Mordred's world was never married to him. And for all intents and purposes, there should rightly be a Cywyllog in the TDIR-verse -- we've Milli-canoned so much, we might as well take this new development into account.

Perhaps, then, TDIR-verse!Cywyllog married Mordred, had children by him...and shortly before the battle in which he and Arthur fell, Mordred murdered Cywyllog and his sons in a fit of Dark-inspired rage.

*braces self for the throwing of empty teacups*

Merriman would know this, certainly. (I wouldn't think it too much of a stretch to have Will be aware of it as well.) But I thought I'd see what everyone else thinks of this idea before anything actually comes of it. So, yea or nay?

Hello all :) I'm Steph and a new mun to Milliways, playing your friendly neighbourhood obscure Welsh princess Cywyllog. She is generally mentioned as being a wife of Mordred and potentially the mother of his sons, which I've pounced on. The best reference I can give for her is here (last paragraph).

I'm sure there are some questions, so please feel free to comment here, ping me on AIM (ID Cywyll) or e-mail me at polar167@hotmail.com and I will be more than happy to answer!

Desperately seeking... [Aug. 15th, 2005|06:13 pm]

maid_of_astolat
A second and third maintainer.

I am planning to bring Elaine out of the bar sometime in December for a type of semi-retirement, and will be playing her much less, so I thought it would be a good idea to have some other maintainers for this community, so that if I disappear, it won't be as bad.

I'd like two more people so that if I have to bow out at any time, the other person will still have someone else there to take up any slack.

Just comment to this post.

And thanks in advance. *hugs*

PLOT and DOOM [Aug. 9th, 2005|02:34 pm]

witchy_rebel
So, I thought I'd give you guys a head's up on where I'm going with Morgan and her plot. Which I didn't actually plan until she had that conversation with Merriman and had her bright little idea...

I'll start with a sum up.

At the moment, Morgan's pregnant. In roughly two weeks, she and Arthur break off their relationship-thing, Ygerna finds out that Morgan's pregnant, and she runs to M'ways. Where she'll spend time sulking and brooding and getting steadily more pissed off. But that's just an aside.

What she's going to try and do is find out all she can about the May Day Massacre, and then try and work out a plan to stop it. She's not naive enough to believe that this will stop Mordred and Arthur from killing each other later on, but she's going to try. Because, it's her son. And her brother. And she loves them both.

Somehow, she IS going to stop it, and then I'm going to time-jump her four or six years into the future so she's married to Urien and has somewhere to dump the boys because I have no desire to RP a baby.

Now, this is where it gets interesting, as I have no idea how she's going to stop the Massacre from happening. Kate has offered Ulfin should the need for some kind of swap arise, and Rym's had a lovely idea regarding the Green Knight and the Dreaming )

And Madb's given that the okay, as well.

So, that's a little summury, but also a plea for a brainstorm of ideas, as I am kind flailing.

ETA: Madb's offered Dream himself as much as I'd/we'd like, also.

Posts and threads from comm?

Check.

TDiR-plot chat logs that were sent to me?

Check.

Yes, I was serious about trying to do a table of cross-overishness. Even have it drawn up, mostly, though I am unsure if I should include a Milliways column or not.

Now, this is the point that I ask all of you to remember any little cross-overs that I might not have and/or know about. Or...whatever you think I need, really. Just so I can go insane with dot points, really.

Help, guys?

ETA: Also? A brief summuary of your character's...life? Major points? In their canon? Would be lovely. Because, although I have the Mary Stewart series and Morte d'Arthur...I'm doing about 13 or so characters, and I'll forget points.

ETA2: And millicanon, if you have any yet. I mean, I have most of the logs, I think. But it'd just help.
