Please help me with my Roots Remix contest! [19 Nov 2008|12:22pm] thesalivasurfer Clicking the above image will direct you to a page containing my entry into The Roots "Criminal" Remix Contest. The determination of winners for this first round is really lame (didn't realize this until after the fact); basically a self-promo battle for votes. I guess the judges didn't want to have to listen to 310 remixes to determine what was actually good. But I worked hard on my track and after listening to a ton of really mediocre/bad entries, am totally confident that mine is good enough to be in the top 25, so I'm giving this ridiculous spam battle a shot. So please hook me up with a vote! Just click the link above and press "vote for me" on the page you are redirected to. Then, if I make it to the top 25 I can actually compete in a legitimate remix competition. The top 25 finalists will advance to Round 2. For Round 2, The Roots will make another track from Rising Down available to be remixed by the 25 finalists, and thankfully there will be 3 judges making the final decision. "You Cant Candycoat Your Own Death" xposted [30 Jun 2008|09:57pm] soldierofsolace [ mood | sympathetic ] [ music | Youre Not Alone by Greenhaus ] Suicide is rather a sensitive subject. it affects those left behind tremendously. they would wonder why would said person, that they know do such a selfish act? desperation. loneliness. for a moment to be finally noticed. what would i know? im a survivor. there was a time when i felt so disconnected to world. i was alone and on my own entirely for the first time. my family was too distant or too busy to notice the signs... and my 21st year was possibly the hardest step into adulthood. yeah me. i tried to say fuck you to the world and life. if life at that moment is how it would be for the rest of my existence, then i did not want it. i dazed out and then... i stepped into oncoming traffic without missing a beat and without holding my breath... got hit by a sports truck. flew and slid about 80 feet back. knocked unconscious for about 20 minutes. but it failed. i woke up. i got away with nothing worse than serious skin shreds and bruises that lasted for almost three months. what i learned... is that i wasnt meant to die just yet. that nothing is as bad is it seems. life had a plan. and here i am. alive. happy. living and experiencing every brand new day. and with that said here is a relic, a momento to those gone passed in anyone's life. and for those that feel like there's no other way... It is targeted for a multi-cultural audience, and we want fashion news from different cities around the world, like Moscow, Tokyo, Dubai, Jamaica, Zimbabwe, Mumbai, London etc... It will not just be fashion,but we hope to cover politics, money, sex and relationships, psyche - basically issues that affect the real women of today...and we want some quirkiness to add to the mag with a fashion comic strip...anyone interested!??
