So, as there seems to be some people in here, I'll go ahead with another thread.

(there are spoilers for the Black Company and the Liveship Traders, so be warned)

I'm reading the Black Company at the moment, and there's this character named Raven who's a tough deadly guy and immediately made me think of Artemis. He can make knives appear in his hands as if by magic, he is very evasive about his past, seems to have major emotional issues and also has the death glare. The only time he showed some compassion was when he risked his life to rescue a young girl being raped.

In the Liveship Traders, there's a pirate named Kennit who struck me as a screwed-up Artemis. He is very ambitious and distrustful to the point of paranoia, also with big emotional issues due to a traumatic childhood very similar to Artemis's.  He wants everybody to fear him and is very particular about his looks, his hygiene, and the image others can have of him, so everything he says or does is perfectly controlled.

It's hard to describe in a few words, but these two characters gave me a strong Artemis feeling while reading those books.

So, if you have read them, what is your opinion? Or if you haven't, are there other characters that remind you of Artemis?

I was wondering why on earth would Kimmuriel want to abduct Calihye, and the only answer I found was that he knew she was pregnant with Artemis's child. This idea doesn't please me for several reasons:

First, I don't want to see any vanilla stuff involving Artemis. I don't want to see him as a father, like "I want to be a good person for my child, but if you mess with him then I'll show you true evil" kind of stuff. One Drizzt is enough. I like Artemis in the grey area; I don't want him to become good because that would be plain boring.

Second, I think the child would be a major case for a Mary Sue. And I know he will be. If it was a girl, she would inherit her mother's beauty which would have been, if not for the scar, the most beautiful woman Artemis has ever seen. She/He would have a horrible childhood among the drow, but having inherited his father's skills and strong will, she/he would be able to beat the crap out of any drow and to resist Kimmuriel's psionic powers. And eventually she/he would escape and be reunited with his unsuspecting father who would scream bloody vengeance, they would both team up and set Mezzoberranzan on fire...

Anyway, what do you think? How do you feel about Artemis having a child of his own? Do you see any other reason why Kimmuriel would need Calihye?

since 1sentence is being lazy and not adding my claim, I figured I might just post it here.
In short: 50 themes, one sentence each, about Jarlaxle and Artemis (Entreri-samaaaa ♥♥♥), scrambled into some sort of order. Well... maybe someone is reading this comm after all ^^;;

Rating: R-ey for the inavoidable bloodshed - uhm, we're talking drow and assassins here?

Warning: A spoiler or two.

More warnings: Blood. Murder. Villain fangirling. Evilness. More blood and murder. Implied slash, le gasp. Dashes and semicolon abuse due to the one-sentence rule. Terry Pratchett influence (especially #7 & #13). One footnote. One bad word. Two mercenaries.

Unnecessary Explanation no one cares about: drow = dark elves = evil. Except The Drizzit, er, Drizzt, goody-goody ranger and Entreri’s unrequited love bane of existence. Jarlaxle is the stylish and calculating leader of Bregan D’aerthe, a drow mercenary band (nooo, not music-related) who has employed Entreri to act as human front for the drow operations. When there was an uprising in Bregan D’aerthe, Entreri saved Jarlaxle’s hot sorry ass, and they have slept travelled together since. Of course, the story is a lot more complicated than that... and boy am I proud to have summarised it that short ^_^
And oh, right. Entreri... *fangirl* Entreri-samaaaaaaa!!!!  Entreri is awesome. Period.

Additional note: The sentences turned out kinda connected, after I was done, so it’s shuffled for continuity. But it’s really 50!

I was rereading bits of Servant of the Shard the other day, & came upon the letter Art wrote to Dwahvel. She seems surprised that he knows how to read & write. We also learn that he has nice handwriting. So when did he learn to read & write? I think we can rule out his childhood. I very much doubt, given the nature of its corrupt priests, that the temple of Selune had any sort of public education programs.

It seems most likely that he must've been taught after being taken in by the Basadoni guild. What do you all think?

I've commented a few times in this community, but I realized I've not introduced myself. I've been a fan of Artemis for about 2 yrs now, but I've only lurked until now. I was thrilled to find this community. Thank you yoski for creating it!

Ladies and Gentlemen... I present you what I think is the most incredible resemblance to how our Artemis Entreri would fight... Meet Altair.

Assassin's Creed is a video game currently in development by Ubisoft Montreal. The game takes place during the Third Crusade, in the year 1191. The gamer plays as a member of the assassin sect Hashshashin known as Altaïr (الطائر, Arabic, "The flying" eagle), whose objective is to assassinate the nine historical figures who are propagating the Crusades, and the suffering of the people. As the gamer finds and kills these targets, their conspiracy is unveiled. The player will be able to travel through three cities, Jerusalem, Acre, and Damascus.

I decided to post my old fanarts of him. These were made in different times, so the artistic level varies too.

I just wanted to let everyone know that I recently had the chance of flipping through the pages of the last issue of the ID graphic novel and they DID portrayed AE at the end.

That's is first appearance in the books and they were faithful to it in the comic but unfortunately for us  the artist depicted him as too big (which was expected just by the way he draws Drizzt and other elves), gruff, old and disheveled.  NOT as the late 20's early 30's, lean, tidy and neat man he's described like in the books.

Tried to find an image in the net but no luck.  

In response to Yunkels worries.. this is how I think Jarlaxle would react.


Fanart Ahead!

Greetings AE fanclub. Today I want to discuss a topic that perhaps would offend the fangirls, know that this it's not my intenton. What you will read here are my mere thoughts.

Yaoi in the stories. Why so much vice? What's the point to pair two males that clearly are straight (for example Artemis & Jarlaxle). Meh , if there is a female character I like (and respect), I'll write a story where she meets a guy, they become a happy couple, start dating, etc. Not turn her into a lesbian. Now, I know there are yuri fics, Im well aware of that... But they are a minority in comparation of yaoi's. For every 100 gay fics I find, 95 are yaoi and only 5 are yuri.

Here's where I ask: Why can't fangirls write a normal male-female romance story? Is there a reason I'm unaware of? Or what.. what impulses a fangirl to write such stories?

No, I'm not saying you should stop writing them, or change them. I already discussed this with Dary and Yoski, I just want to hear everyone else's opinion.

Oh, just one more thing. When you upload a yaoi fic PLEASE!!!!!!!! point out at the beginning it's yaoi. Remember that not everyone here enjoys that kind of stories (Nuitari).

After RotP we have been asking a lot of questions about the issue of Selune and her cleregy in Memnon, how Selune would react to the destruction of her temple, how could Selune's have that much prescence in the City (given Cyric, Tyr and others are "stronger" around there) and even if Artemis could be in Selune's "favor". Why did Salvatore choose Selune to be THAT priest's God?

Im not saying Artemis will become a god xD (I think Jarlaxle is more close to that) but I wanted to share this with you and to know what do you think. Artemis and Selune, A coincidence?

It has been debated in the RAS forums if the Chosen of Gruumsh is really the new nemesis of Drizzt. Has the Orc replaced the tension the assassin gave to previous books? Please write your thoughts about this.
