Plug for a colleague's indie film project [10 Mar 2009|05:51am]

ladycatherina
Synchronized Chaos Magazine's (http://www.synchchaos.com)'s contributing writer Faracy Grouse (http://www.faracy.org) is creating an indie movie! Here’s the synopsis:

I want to start filming this April and finish by the end of 2009.
The only way Madelaine, a final year PhD student, is able to make sense of her life is to maintain her exacting routine. Surviving a turbulent childhood at the hands of a distant mother and drug-addict father who took her from fascist Spain to cold war Russia in search of an ideal life, she defects to America only to find herself drawn back to Spain and into a dysfunctional marriage of her own.
Now in London, she meets Lisboa, a charming but reckless Portuguese sous-chef who forces her to face the past which nearly destroyed her.

For more information, and to make a donation (any amount helps, and you’ll get a copy of a collection of her writings) visit her Fundable site here: https://www.fundable.com/groupactions/groupaction.2009-03-04.7166812766?email=cedeptula@sbcglobal.net

She’d love people with whom to network, people to spread the word, people to help her out with cost saving/fundraising ideas, people who can donate their time, etc. Thanks so much for supporting the arts and a young woman's dream!

This is one of a number of artworks I have for sale. Prices range from 25 - 150 UK pounds sterling (or 50 - 300 dollars). You can view all the pieces I have for sale at http://www.rimbaud.org.uk/artforsale.html

Many of my artworks are also available as inexpensive reproductions via CafePress.com, as post cards, greeting cards, posters etc, as well as on coffee mugs, calendars, mouse mats, t-shirts and even fridge magnets. They'd make an ideal Christmas present for someone who appreciates art. You can see the entire range of images at http://www.rimbaud.org.uk/artproducts.html (click on an image that appeals and you'll be taken straight through to the CafePress shop)

(moderators: if this isn't allowed, please delete with my apologies)

an online magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a twist

Crossed Genres ([info]crossedgenres) is still accepting art submissions for its inaugural issue, to be released December 1! We have our cover art, but we are still looking for black & white inside art.

Submissions should be roughly in the proportions of 8.5” x 11” (can be larger). Any media but photomanips are accepted. Images should be relatively tame (artistic nudity and non-graphic violence are acceptable) and not use previously copyrighted material. Beyond that, so long as they contain at least some element of Science Fiction and/or Fantasy, anything goes!

Submissions for the first issue will be accepted until October 31! Please read the submission guidelines and consider making a submission! Any questions/queries can be sent to cg@crossedgenres.com.

(Posted with permission)

Introducing

an online magazine of Science Fiction & Fantasy with a twist

Crossed Genres is a new online magazine inspired by an altered version of the Genre Challenge ([info]genrechallenge).

Every month, Crossed Genres posts a new genre. Writers and artists have one month to submit stories and art that combine the chosen genre with some aspect of Science Fiction and/or Fantasy. All submissions are considered for publication (read the submission guidelines.) Crossed Genres will also contain interviews, and articles about the current genre, SF/F in general and the craft and business of writing. The Magazine is free! Please sign up to get the mailing list!

We also have a growing list of writer-related links (suggest a new one!), forums discussing all aspects of writing, and more!

So please visit the website, and sign up for the mailing list! The first genre has been posted and is accepting submissions for Issue #1, to be released December 1. Please consider making a submission!

Invitation to submit to new variety webzine [21 Aug 2008|03:34am]

ladycatherina
Mods - if this is spam please feel free to delete - I think a submission opportunity for artists is art related but if it's advertising in anyone's eyes than no hard feelings either.

Hi everyone, I invite all the artists in this community, and anyone else you may know, to submit artwork or writing to our new literary/artistic/cultural/nature and travel writing/scientific webzine Synchronized Chaos!

Information on the zine and how to submit, from the Facebook group http://www.facebook.com/group.php?gid=20763137372&ref=mf :

This is all of our new brainchild, an art/cultural/literary/scientific/social commentary/essay webzine tentatively called "Synchronized Chaos" (referring to some kind of not-obviously-apparent logic that emerges spontaneously from randomnity, basically a fun way to have a theme without having a theme.)

Sort of a way to help the aspiring artists we constantly meet to get their names out there and spotlight some excellent work which should have an audience but the artists don't want to go through the publication process. And to give people committed to worthwhile causes a way to speak out or to use their personal experiences to educate others.

Everyone's invited to submit (and everything should be accepted, unless it's obscene or hateful). If you are interested please send a submission via email anytime this summer. We're working towards setting up a regular editing board and designating people to handle certain kinds of submissions, but for now you may use my email, cedeptula@sbcglobal.net

We're online in a rough draft form (all the artwork and writing is posted by our promised deadline but the Word Press blog still needs customization, quotes, links, and pictures to make the site more navigable) at http://www.synchchaos.com and invite you to check it out! Think of it as a building in progress, with the scaffolding still attached but with some interesting posted architectural plans.

We are not a paying market as of yet but hope to become one as we grow and sell advertising and/or host contests. The magazine's online contents will remain free to provide artists and writers with the greatest level of exposure possible.

So far we have received a good variety of submissions, and look forward to more! We're also [info]chaos_zine on LJ and would be a publishing credit for any visual artist or writer to put on his/her bio or proposal or resume.

You may either pitch or send a completed product (attachments OK but prefer writing or thumbnails or JPEG images pasted in the body of the email.) Please put "Synchronized Chaos Submission" in the subject line and please feel free to include an artist statement or bio if you would like.

Also - our magazine is as much about building community and relationships with artists as it is about publication. We'd be happy to see artists and writers post and chat with each other in [info]chaos_zine or on the Facebook page and would be glad to comment/critique or dialogue with you about your work if you would like.
