Community Profile

art_weekly is a community art blog with the goal of inspiring people to create art. Each week a theme will be posted - it could be a subject, mood, color scheme, concept, etc. - and community members are encouraged to create at least one work of art around that theme and post it.

GUIDELINES:

1. Any level of skill welcome, from stick-figures on up, and any sort of visual art welcome - oekaki, traditional art, photography, fanart, original work, comics, abstract, sculpture, fabric art, typography, layout, graphic design, etc.: whatever floats your artistic boat.

2. Crit welcome only if the artist asks for it - the primary goal here is to get people making art, not judging it.

3. Creative interpretations of the theme welcome.

4. Artistic nudity and violence is OK, but out of regard for those who may have to access the comm from work, school, or the homes of those with less-sensible attitudes, please put it behind a cut or as a link to another site with an explanation of what the viewer might see.

5. No advertising of communities or sites UNLESS you are also posting a picture you've done for the weekly theme. (i.e., feel free to link to your gallery or art site from your weekly themed post.)

6. Art posted should be newly created for the theme as the goal is making art, not just sharing it. (That being said, art created to former themes is also welcome.)

7. As a courtesy, please put images larger than, say, 150-200K or 500 pixels wide behind a cut. If you're not sure how to resize an image or to check the size of it, just ask one of the mods (and let them know what program you're using). We don't bite!
