Canon LiDe Scanner drivers:
If you own a Canon Lide-series scanner and it is crushing your greyscale, you might want to know that at least in my case:
UPDATING THE DRIVERS FIXED IT.

In my case I had to get the "WIA Driver" (whatever the heck that is) and it got me back to scanning properly, which is to say IT DOESN'T TURN MY PENCILS INTO TWO-TONE BLACK AND WHITE ANYMORE.
